A new morning arose as Kaila rubbed her eyes feeling a soft fuzzy blanket wrapped around her. Opening her eyes she saw she was laying on the floor with part of the massive blanket underneath her body and some bunched up at her head as a pillow.

She pondered in her head in curiosity when Lauren wasn't in sight. 'Where'd she go?' She questioned. Still too tired to get up yet, Kaila brushed her face along the soft fuzzy blanket letting the bits of fur it had scratch her cheek.

Laying in silence allowed Kaila to have enough room to hear what was happening outside this rather thin door.

Hearing a raspy voice yelling and shouting in anger, Kaila's question from earlier was answered. Having nothing better to do Kaila tuned into her conversation as much as she could.

"...but that's not fair at all!...But mom!...You and dad have already doubled our auction frequency! Why do we have to push the one we have scheduled for the end of the week to be held tomorrow?!...Because we don't have all the patients ready for tomorrow, that's why I'm frustrated mom! Can't you and dad just say the pick up date isn't until the original deadline!...Yeah I know it's only a day sooner than expected but still! We aren't ready for them yet! I just need more time!...That's so unfair! Can't you just take down the announcement saying that we moved it up a day?!...Why?!...Yeah whatever...yes mom I heard you...bye." The noise outside got quieter.

Wanting to see what that was all about Kaila tried to unravel herself from the small makeshift bed on the floor, but started whining when she couldn't figure out how to get out of this blanket prison.

Her struggles turned into whimpers as she tried kicking and hitting her way out of it but to no avail. She cried loudly wanting to get out of the sheet when Lauren suddenly bursted through the door hanging up on a call and rushing over to the small girl.

"Hey Kay. Stop whining there's no need for that. Let me help you." She began to unwrap Kaila from the hold the blanket had on her. "See all better." Lauren chuckled when the small girl sat up instantly going to stretch out her tired limbs.

"What happen?" Kaila innocently asked pointing towards the ground where Lauren had placed her phone before assisting Kaila.

"Eavesdropping are you?" Lauren cocked her eyebrow as Kaila sunk down back into the bed blushing.

"No..." she hesitated not wanting Lauren to have been upset at her for it. She didn't want to lose the only bit of reassurance she had in this facility.

Lauren laughed loudly seeing how shy Kaila had become. "I'm only teasing you Kay. But you shouldn't eavesdrop like that it's rude." Kaila was suddenly brought back to when Mallix had talked to her when she had done the same to one of his and Lain's private conversations. "As for the call itself, don't worry about that. It was just my mom letting me know about some major changes she wanted to make to our system. Just a bunch of boring stuff that'll probably put you back to sleep." She threw the blanket lightly over Kaila.

"Speaking of calls I wasn't done just yet. I still have to make one more to someone rather important. And since I now know that outside the door isn't a safe place to have private conversations from your ears. I'm going to go grab us breakfast while I do it. You stay here and rest up a bit more. I'll be back soon." She got up waving.

Leaving the room Kaila cracked a smile and waved back as Lauren shut the door. Hearing the click of the lock, Kaila sighed realizing she was locked in yet another prison. Seeing nothing around to keep her entertained until Lauren came back she stayed in bed letting her thoughts wander.

As if instincts guided her, the first thoughts to come into Kaila's head was of Mallix and Lain. Even the thought of them were enough to make that small smile on her face grow. While being apart for awhile, she never forgot the way they looked at her, the way they took care of her, the way they showed her kindness unlike any other. Reminiscing in the past she was able to calmly rest up until Lauren walked back in the room placing a key in her pocket.

In her other hand, Lauren had a plate filled with breakfast for the two of them. Laying the plate down on the ground, she pulled out some cutlery before she sat down. Grabbing the knife she began to cut up Kaila's entire portion. Once that was completed she placed it on her desk out of Kaila's reach.

Passing over a fork both girls started to eat their meals. Seeing as Lauren scarfed down her food she was done in a matter of minutes while Kaila was still working on getting half of hers done.

Taking this opportunity to explain some things Lauren placed her hand on Kaila's leg catching her attention. "Today's going to be a little different Kay."

With a mouthful of food Kaila simply turned her head in curiosity. "I'm not going to lie Kay, there's going to be a lot of commotion in the department today. Tomorrow's a big day and everyone is rushing to get things done. Meaning we also have a lot of work to get done today." The second Lauren said that Kaila whined shaking her head not wanting to have to go through another lesson.

"Hey Kay what's wrong?" Lauren asked noticing Kaila's fright.

Swallowing the last bit of her food she panicked, "no!"

Lauren looked confused leaning closer. "What do you mean no?"

"Don't wanna go back!"

"Back where?"

"Box!" Kaila said shaking when it finally clicked in Lauren's head.

"Don't worry Kay, you aren't going back there. You and I have other stuff we need to do." She reassured before getting up from off the floor. "Tonight you and I have to go to a very important meeting with some special people. Until then you're free to stay here and rest while I go and talk to some people from another department, or you can come along. Your choice."

Not wanting to feel locked away more than she already was, Kaila accepted the offer to go with Lauren. "Alright, then let's get going." She held her hand out to Kaila.

Getting up from her place, Kaila grabbed her extended hand as the two of them began their day.
