Holding the note from the table in the light Kaila began to read it aloud. Her mouth nearly dropping as she read the only three words written on the entire sheet. "I'm sorry..." Her voice was a mere whisper. "M-mary." she stuttered seeing the bottom of the note.

The loud noise of Hounds started becoming louder but it was as if her ears were numb to the sound. She looked outside at the open space seeing the red flashes of light blink in and out of her peripheral. Dropping the note onto the ground she turned around more aware and with her hearing back. The sound of a pound and lock on the door scared her.

Running to check on the door she confirmed her suspicion—locked. It seemed like the walls were caving in on her. The air in the room became thick as she tried prying open the door to no avail.

She tried slamming her small body against it but nothing changed. She was locked in the greenhouse. Accepting defeat she hid herself behind a large pot filled high with leaves. Crouching down low to the ground, she put her hands to her chest trying to even out her unstable breathing.

Her mind was trying to comprehend everything, but with a combination of the red lights coming in and out from under the door, the loud siren of the alarm, and the roars of the Hounds it was near to impossible.

Every single distraction all piled up until she was unable to focus on anything. Her breathing got worst until she was harshly heaving for air. Despite being hidden for nearly ten minutes nobody entered the room. She hadn't even heard a single bang on the door since the locking noise. Thinking of her small moment of safety was her way of calming down. The realization that someone could burst through at any moment terrified her, but if she could stop it then she would be safe.

Sliding out of her hiding place cautiously she walked over to the door. Grabbing a chair from the corner of the room she placed it underneath the doorknob. Using her time wisely she grabbed as many empty and full pots and piled them in front of the door, creating a small barrier between herself and whoever was out there.

With more than half of the pots near the door, the room was practically empty. Besides a few shelves and boxes around Kaila began searching for a way out. Her mind still unsettled thinking back to the note as she stomped on it before kicking it away from her.

Walking around the entire room she couldn't find anywhere to escape. The walls were built with cement. The only place she could see some possibility of an escape were the large glass windows that provided light into the room. An idea struck her mind as she looked over her shoulder to the fire extinguisher next to a shelf.

Grabbing it from off the wall she stretched her shoulders out before slamming the extinguisher into the glass. A loud thud echoed through the room. Inspecting the glass, she could barely even see a scratch. Frowning she hit it again, and again, and again. Every time she saw the exact same result.

"What the?" She stepped back seeing only a few visible scratches to the glass. Groaning in frustration she threw the fire extinguisher at the glass listening to the blunt sound of it bouncing off and falling straight to the floor.

She wanted to throw her fists at the wall to take out some anger but another thought crossed her mind. Looking up in the room she began searching for a skylight. She smiled seeing half of the ceiling was made entirely out of glass. Part of her was doubtful but another part had hope.

Picking the fire extinguisher up from off the ground, she tucked it under her arm. Taking a deep breathe in she looked up at a tall shelf directly underneath one of the skylights.

Making sure the weight was even, she started to climb the side of the shelf. As her footing continued to move up the side of it, the shelf wobbled and croaked. She shut her eyes trying her hardest not to look down.

Like before her breathing picked up as she unsteadily took another step up. As her foot made contact with the metal, the shelf had made a startling noise causing Kaila to shoot her eyes open in response. Without even realizing it her eyes opened as her head was down towards the floor.

Seeing the distance between her and the floor, her heart began sinking into her chest. While the fall wouldn't have hurt her, the sight was enough to terrify the small girl. Shutting her eyes tightly, she held onto the metal bars for dear life fearful of moving.

Her palms were becoming sweating as they were starting to give out on her. Not wanting to fall to the ground, as if a boost of confidence hit her body she quickly climbed the final few steps up the shelf until she finally made it to the top. Taking a large gasp of air she froze not making a single movement until she shaking of the shelf evened out.

As it did she smiled having finally reached the top. Grabbing the extinguisher from out of her arm she bend backwards slightly throwing it full forced at the window. A small shattering noise filled the air. Kaila was instantly filled with hope and continued hitting the glass. After twenty or so times she checked the window seeing it still intact. The only real damage were a few bumps and scrapes. Her hope vanished while she angrily threw the extinguisher all the way down to the ground. "Come on!"

Too filled with anger she easily climbed back down the shelving, not caring anymore whether or not she fell in the process. Making it down safely she was throwing her head all around the room trying to find some other means of escape.

The panic in her movements paused as she heard the twisting of the door handle. Loud shouts and screams echoed from behind the small door. Her eyes bulged out of her head realizing she was running out of time.

She ran through the entire room looking for at least a weapon to defend herself with. The only items she could find were the typical gardening tools. Kaila grew even more frustrated hearing the doorknob twisting become more aggressive. Grabbing the fire extinguisher again she prepared to defend herself.

Goosebumps appeared on her arm as pots began shattering and others were being pushed back as the door began to slowly prop open. Immediately the same raspy and freakishly angry voice shook the ground. " KAILA OPEN THE DOOR!"

Her legs began to tremble as more pots began to move out of the way and the door opened even more. From outside Lauren watched as a team of Hounds she had brought used a battering ram to get the door budging.

She was growing irritated seeing how many times they were hitting the door and making little progress. Her eyes twitched as an even worst wave of anger washed over her. It had taken them at least five minutes to be able to break through the barrier Kaila had created.

As soon as the final ram shot the door open enough for her to squeeze through, Lauren pushed past the Hounds and made into the room.
