Chapter 46: Paper Plan

Both Zander and Mallix took off running in the direction of the car engine. They had made it just in time as Alex was just pulling up into the front of the cabin when they emerged from behind the tree line and rushed over to him.

Alex looked over seeing Zander running at him with open arms smiling wide, stepping out, Alex had been pushed back slightly upon impact. Zander wrapped his arms around Alex tightly, "good to see you too Z." He said lightly ruffling his hair.

"Want to go watch a movie!" Zander asked him with pleading eyes.

"Sure, why don't you go find something to watch while I grab my things." Alex sent Zander off with a wink, waiting for the cabin doors to shut before he addressed Mallix who had a grin unlike any before.

Without needing to say anything Alex knew what was on his mind, nodding as he reached into the passenger side of the car, he pulled out a long sheet of paper containing the layout of the Fendly facility. "Here you go." He passed it over to Mallix who had a shining gold spotlight hanging down on him as he accepted it. "We're going to get your girls back M. You have my word." Alex smiled letting go of the blueprints watching Mallix slip happily inside like it was Christmas Day.

Just as Alex grabbed his briefcase and locked his car door, from the corner of his eye he could see Nina walking slowly out from the tree line. He waved moving to the trunk of the car and pulling out a large fluffy pastel red blanket.

He held it out showing Nina as she got closer to him. "That looks so soft." She placed her hand on it feeling the pieces of fleece brush against her palm. "Wow." Her eyes widened.

"Yeah I know, its great. Z's favorite color too." He proudly held it in his arm as he shut his trunk.

"He's gonna love it."

"I hope so too." Alex had a wide smile spread across his face as he opened the door seeing Zander laying down on his back picking out a movie for them to watch.

"You guys have fun, I have business I need to take care of with James." She whispered softly into his ear as she took the path towards her bedroom.

Hiding the blanket as much as he could behind his back, Alex approached the living room. "Hey Z, I got you something while I was out." The boy on the couch looked up with curious sparkling eyes. "Close your eyes and hold out your hands."

Doing as Alex instructed, Zander was surprised to feel the soft material touch his hands. Shooting his eyes open, he met the cozy present. "I love it! It's so soft! And it's red! My favorite!" He hugged the portion of the blanket that was revealed.

"I know. I thought you would like it. Can I have that back for a quick second buddy?" Zander nodded handing it over slightly blushing at the new nickname.

Walking to cut off the tag and other plastic wraps on it, Alex returned throwing the blanket over Zander's entire body. The boy practically melted at the touch. The material was so soft it was as if nothing were even on his skin. Alex sat besides him with a bowl of popcorn he had made while cutting the tag, and placed it on his lap. Zander leaned up against his side, allowing Alex to throwing his arm over his shoulder and hug him in tighter.

"So what are we watching?" Alex asked throwing a piece of popcorn into his mouth.

"No idea..." Zander answered still switching between channels at a quick pace. Together they sat and chatted until finally a movie had been selected. Even though the room got quieter the two of them had never felt more alive.

Meanwhile as the they watched their movie in peace, Mallix was hard at work. He had several ripped pages of notebook paper sprawled across the room with scribbles all over them. In the center of an empty wall, Mallix pinned up the new blueprint besides the old one. He stood rubbing his chin as he compared the two.

While the old one only detailed a few aspects of the facility, the new version was more intricate. It showed the locations of the entrances and exits of each of the five main departments, along with the smaller buildings around it. Grabbing a red pen, Mallix circled both department four and five, signally an idea of his girls location.

The sheets he had around the room all had an idea, or concept, to break them out. Every night Mallix refused to sleep for more than three hours, instead he would spend all night long writing down his ideas and plans. All in preparation for this moment. Now with the map, he would be able to more effectively  create a plan of action.

Running from sheet to sheet, back to the blueprints, and then returning to the papers he was attempting to devise a plan.

Following a route on the blueprint from one room to the next, Mallix checked several sheets. Each one detailing a different method of transportation from the starting to ending point of his route. Trying to imagine the scene and thinking of all the different outcomes, he made and revised several ideas until he believed to have the one.

Continuing on through various versions of planning, thinking, revising, and deciding Mallix finally finished developing a rough idea of an escape plan to get his girls out.

He threw his hands on top of his head, celebrating the victory to himself with tears. He could already feel himself hugging Lain and Kaila tightly in his arms. He wrote down every detail and every action on a separate sheet of paper. Hiding the rest away into a rather tall stack in his closet, Mallix hung up the final plan in between the two different blueprints.

Without batting an eye away, Mallix ran through the situation in his head over and over again, making sure he took everything into account and thinking of all possible scenarios. Hours rushed by and before he knew it, his sight was becoming darker and the world around him joined in the darkness.

The sun was nearly about to set when he finally nodded his head writing down the last final adjustment onto his paper plan.

He smiled having a rush of joy and ease hit him. The queasy feeling in his stomach subsided slightly allowing him to take a proper breathe of air. Hearing a rumble from his stomach, Mallix walked out of his bedroom.

He walked past Nina and James room hearing the two of them bickering loudly with one another. Continuing on he passed by Zander and Alex who were both fast asleep. The younger man had his head laying on Alex's lap, while he hung his head back on the couch.

While apart of him dreading being alone in a house full of lovers, he felt himself pulling himself together. He could feel it in his heart it wouldn't be long before he's reunited with his. Not wanting to bother either couple, Mallix decided to make an early dinner for everyone.
