In a daze Kaila felt an annoyingly cold piece of metal come in contact with her skin. Her eyelids fluttered as they tried to open, but the bright light shining in her face was blinding. She continued blinking until her vision had become clear. As she was becoming more awake, she became more aware of herself.

She was laying down on her back with something covering her entire body. But she wasn't laying on anything soft, this was hard and smooth. When Kaila tried to stand up she noticed her legs and arms were both stuck in place. She had never felt so weak before. There was no way she could move her body.

She grunted as she used the little strength she could manage to pick her head up. But even the light weight of her head was still too heavy for her. Not being able to keep it up long she used this time to look around. Every time she moved a bone, used a muscle, or even thought of something a terrible feeling befell all over her body.

As the pain from lifting her head shot throughout her body, she couldn't help but have a flashback to the blackout. 'The room began filing with smoke...I burned...I couldn't move anymore.' She played the scenario back again in her head as clear as the first time it occurred. The fear and panic set in when she looked around seeing she wasn't anywhere she'd known. The only thing she could make out were the teasing pristine white walls outside of the door window.

'Great!' She let her head fall back to the hard surface it was on. Within that short span of time her head was lifted Kaila saw she was in a bland and empty room. Nothing but a chair was stationed in front of her.

She opened her mouth to shout and scream making her panic only heightened as she realized there was absolutely no sound escaping her lips. The more she tried to scream, the more awake she became, and more strength came back to her body while still no sound came out. She could see her extremely pale skin finally had some color return to it.

The more strength she gained, the more she used it to look up from her stationary place. As she decided to look down at herself, she noticed she was laid on top of what looked like a surgeon table with a thin cloth laying over her.

While she was distracted by her current dilemma, the door squeaked open. Shooting her head towards it Kaila saw a middle aged woman with long brown curly hair and a golden glow in her skin. Kaila looked like a corpse next to her. She wore a brown suit with heels that clattered with every step she took.

Her entire being emitted this overwhelming sense of fear. Kaila was so drawn to this woman she hadn't even noticed Elias standing right behind her as he shut the door, trapping the three of them inside.

She could hear herself gulping down with how quiet the room was. Kaila watched in slow motion as this woman came to sit in the empty chair only a foot away.

"Quite a show you put on back there girly." She ran her sharp long nails down Kaila's cheek to her neck as she leaned in, "it was almost entertaining." She whispered.

Backing away Kaila could feel a tear escape her eye as her nerves finally settled in. Seeing this woman sitting calmly in front of her and Elias holding onto her chair was intimidating.

"You should be proud of yourself." Shaking her head, "not many people can say they've made it that long out of their department without being caught by a Hound." The woman sinisterly smirked.

"But that's not what we're here to talk about. I'm sure your well aware of the burning sensation coursing through your veins," almost as if on cue Kaila could feel her body being to ache again, "that's a...souvenir. Courtesy of our gas chambers."

Elias set his hand on top of the woman's shoulder as he pressed his thumbs deep into her skin, but the woman didn't even flinch. It didn't faze her in the slightest. Pressing on she went to speak again, "rogues like you can't be trusted. You're too risky. We were lucky to have caught you in time before you caused who knows what kind of damage to our reputation." She spoke very slow and lowly.

'Lucky!' Kaila popped her eyes hearing the word. 'You call this lucky!' She opened her mouth to yell, but even after trying with all her might there still wasn't any noise. The only sound bouncing through the walls of the small room were the screeching laughs of Elias and this woman.

"Oh you poor child. Guess another one of the effects of the gas kicked in." She put her finger to her lips mocking Kaila. "Do you like it? I designed the gas myself. An odorless gas that was created to inflict pain on anyone who breathes it in—with some fun side effects. But don't worry this'll all be something of the past in a week. You'll soon notice some of the other effects like extreme fatigue and an extreme decline in muscle movement if you haven't already."

If Kaila could find it in herself to get words out—they would not be pleasantries for say the least. "Might as well stop trying, the more you try to fight it and use your voice the longer it'll take to get it back. For now we can enjoy the silence." She smiled looking up at Elias behind her.

"Why don't you tell her what we have in store for her?" The woman told Elias.

His eyes were full of lust as he stared at the woman in front of him, but the second he nodded and met eyes with Kaila it was as if his entire demeanor changed. Clearing his throat harshly he said, "you remember my wife, Myra, don't you Kaila?" He reminded bringing an awfully large amount of suppressed memories to light for the small girl.

She shivered in place. Too much time had passed, and Myra had changed so much Kaila hadn't even recognized her which she wished it had stayed that way. "She's something isn't she..." he squeezed down on her shoulder harder still with no response.

"A magnificent, strong, and intelligent woman. If you think the gas was impressive you'll love what she's set up for you." The insane face he had only worsened as he continued, "if you think trying to escape here was do-able or even possible then think again. After the close call we had with you, and after the amount of times Lauren nearly lost you, you won't be returning to a normal room or even Lauren's room anymore. Instead this is where you'll be, strapped down to that slab of metal with nowhere to run or go. And the best part of it all is that you'll be receiving a new treatment plan, made especially for you."

Her whole world was collapsing in front of her eyes. Kaila had gone from being feet away from reconnecting with Lain and escaping, to being bound to a silver bed with nowhere to go.

"Have fun. Your treatment begins soon." He said with an evil laugh in his voice as he removed his hand from Myra's shoulder and held it out. Helping her up, they walked out of the small room as quick as they came leaving Kaila once again all alone.
