Maya looked as she knew her best friend was still fighting to stay awake but that it would go away very soon.
Cory was definitely angry at hi daughter for not sleeping during the night and being tired during the day but her head does work differently.

"Okay, class. Today we are doing something different. What is the secret to life?" Cory said.
"People change people," Lucas said.
"And for extra credit," Cory said.
"What us does for them," Maya said and Cory looked at the girl.
"Good job, Miss Hart. Kids today I want to teach you something very important. People change all the time and even bad people can change. But sometimes even the kindest people reject them. Okay, let's see what we can learn," Cory said writing out the date.

"Riley," Lucas said as she looked up at the date totally susprised.
"Why didn't you tell me anything?" Riley asked and Cory looked at Maya.
"You are seventeen today and you told nobody," Riley said.
"Guess she is. Congrats," Cory said and Maya exhaled.
"Not that big of a deal," Maya said.
"Bay window. Bay window right after school," Riley said.
