Overwatch x Reader

My (Late) Reaction to the Summer Games Event:

Ok so this is going to come out a bit late just because there was a hurricane where I live and the power went out by the time the summer games came out. I really just wanted to post something that wasn't angst because  I just noticed that all the fanfics I'm currently writing are angst. It's like Taylor Swift's album Folklore with my writing so we gotta dial it back to 1989 (Another Taylor Swift album for those who don't know) and start talking about stuff that's positive.... Like the 2020 Summer Games.

Because I don't own the game, I never played Lucio ball in my life. And maybe that's a good thing because I hear that most Overwatch players hate the game. With every Overwatch event, they never really change the mini games or add anything new per year. It sure would be cool if they did like when they did Storm Rising last year. Would have gotten some Zenyatta lore if they did more archive missions that's for sure (probably wouldn't but I wish). Anyways, they remixed Lucio ball finally so I hope it's more fun for people to play now.

Now the skins:

We got Pharah as a lifeguard and I like that. The design is cool and I like the idea of her wing things being water wings. Plus, this means that she and McCree can be a lifeguard duo. I can't wait to see the fan art that comes out of those two protecting the beach.

Baptiste is chilling in those beach clothes like he should be. I think it's from that story thing he had where he meets up with his former friend MAUI: DEMIGOD OF THE WIND AND SEA, HERO TO ALL. I feel like this skin represents his chill personality really well, like he knows how to relax. Baptiste fans get to see him with natural clothes and not his usual bulky uniform. Baptiste's pants look so weird with his boots. It's like having a pants extension. That's the kind of pants extension you wear at your house and not on a mission in front of people. I wished they would change the design of his giant boots or give him Birkenstocks.

Bastion is a sandcastle. I honestly didn't know what he was when I first saw him in those weekly rewards clipit. My brain was like: what is that? Minecraft? That was until the end part where you just see Basion being one with the sand. I like the creativity of the skin, I just wished my brain could have processed what Bastion was sooner. There's gonna be some cute fan art out of that one.

Brigitte is a fisherman. Don't know how that's summer related besides the fish part. I think it kinda makes sense from a lore standpoint since Reinhardt goes ice fishing with Pharah every year so it would make sense Brigitte knows how to fish from Reinhardt. I don't have anything against it.

Doomfist also had a skin but I didn't notice that until I watched the video again. It's a Karate uniform with the word meteor on it. I didn't know that Doomfist knew martial arts, I thought he just liked punching things. His shoes look like crocs tho.

Echo got hair for her skin where I guess she's a surfer. I feel like you either like the flame hair or you don't. I like it, because she had a Jojo Siwa hairline with her original skin and we all need to witness a robot with Bart Simpson hair. Don't know how Echo can go into water without needing a rice bath but it's the 2070s for them so omnics might be waterproof.

Tracer got a British represent skin to represent Britain because she's British.

Orisa is a sundae ice cream cone thing and I love that. Makes me think of all those dolls that were advertised to me as a kid where they were themed around food. Dats a good skin 10/10.

Ok so now that one new Emote:

We get to see Tracer stretch in the beginning, reminding us to stretch out bods before we do anything physical. When she does those leg lunges, I cringe a little on the inside. That's the only problem I have with it tho.

Those Highlight reels:

Ana is seen drinking a smoothie and just enjoying herself. Really giving off those retirement vibes. Too bad that in the lore she's stuck with Morrison to help him get his revenge.

Ashe shoots a bullet at an apple that just so happens to be on B.O.B's head. Reminds of Avatar: the Last AirBender when young Azula forces young Zuko to light up the tip of the apple while it's on young Mei's head. I just realized B.O.B is sweating oil in the highlight, which I appreciate but now I feel bad for B.O.B. #FreeB.O.BFromAshe2020

Voice Lines that were in the Trailer and are half old and half new:

Ana says she's not cut out for retirement. I'm over here like: girl you wish you were retired. Morrison never takes a break, even when he fake died while you were in retirement while you were fake dead. I feel like it could make a good interaction between Morrison and Ana where he's like: I'm sorry to drag you into all of this. And she says: I'm not cut out for retirement anyways. Good voice line still.

Ashe says "Can't put a price on good health." And I'm just here trying to process it like: what? I think Angela would say otherwise.

Baptiste tells us he will show us how it's done, which reminds me of one of Reinhardt's voice lines but that's ok.

Brigitte says now we're in business which is too reminiscent of Torburn. Like I feel like she is advertising the Lindholm factory.

Doomfist said he's gonna make us punch drunk. And I was seriously confused until I remembered punch is a beverage. It feels like a reference to a movie tho.

Echo tells us we learn something new everyday, which I think is a pretty good voiceline for her character. Since she is programmed to be dependent on her creator, ya know before she died. We like that on-your-nose reference.

Pharah tells us it's all in a day's work, which I think is not a new voiceline from her. Still, it goes with her character because she's a hardworking person. She was determined to work for Overwatch even when she didn't have the support of her mother and changed career paths when Overwatch shut down.

Tracer tells us to stretch, which sounds like something Wii fit trainer would say if she had a British accent.

Ok so dat's it and it's alright but where's Overwatch 2? Only Jeff Kaplan knows... It's probably held back because of the pandemic and the new consoles coming out soon. Thanks a lot, 2020.

Anyways, what's your favorite Overwatch skins? I like Widowmaker's Noire skin, Bastion's Lego skin, and Soldier 76's Grillmaster skin.
