Shut Up And Kiss Me (Book 1 - Avengers)

~Chapter Thirty-Six: Part One: May This End Where It Started~

Everyone quickly got prepped up, Tony getting a new suit on and implanting Friday due to Jarvis being gone, Steve suiting up and talking with Buck, Peter getting his suit on despite Tony telling him multiple times he isn't coming and he sure as hell isn't getting into the line of fire. Clint had already grabbed his stuff, put his suit on, grabbed as many arrows as he could hold, he couldn't help but pause and slowly backtrack as he saw the twins though.

He studied the twins who both looked extremely uneasy, unsure if they could do this, they weren't sure how useful they'd be. Clint carefully kneeled down in front of the two, "I know this isn't easy for either of you... but you both have come so far in such a small amount of time..." He said softly, setting a hand to each of their knees "All you have to do is help as many people as possible... if you do that you've already gone above and beyond." The two looked to him quietly, then each other, slowly nodded.

What scared Wanda wasn't Ultron or the fact that they could all possibly die, it was more of losing control of herself. The anger she felt towards Ultron, towards what he had planned for all of the human race? It fueled her like nobody could imagine... except maybe Tony, that thing had almost killed his kid (so she'd been told), not to mention he'd actually created the thing.

"And what if we get split up...?" Pietro asked slowly, worry etched into his voice, his hand naturally sliding into his sisters, gripping it tightly. Wanda gently squeezed it,

"I'll be fine Pietro... I'm not as helpless as you like to think." She smiled, causing him to relax some.

Barton watched them for a moment before he also smiled, "And I won't let anything happen to either of you." He reassured them, his tone both firm and caring. If he was sure of anything that was gonna happen today, it was that he wasn't gonna let not one thing happen to either, he would protect the two with his life.

Peter studied the phone for a long few minutes, pacing back and forth, already dressed in his Spiderman suit. He'd been thinking about this a lot, thinking about Wade, the entire situation that was Wade crushing on Peter and Peter crushing on Gwen. Ever since Wade had been honest about his feelings and walked out, something inside Peter felt torn. He couldn't place why the situation suddenly felt so wrong, he'd known exactly what he wanted and then... and then suddenly it felt so different...

He picked up the phone, dialing in Gwen's number, biting his lip as he called.

"Hello?" She asked softly, 'She has that tone like she's in the middle of doing her nails again...' Peter thought to himself before he slightly cleared his throat, he had to do this...

"Uh, hey Gw-"

"Peter!" She squeaked, he could very clearly hear her knock something over in surprise before she fumbled around some. "Where have you been!?" She continued, seeming to start cleaning up whatever she'd knocked over.

"Um- around? Busy?- uh" He sighed and muted himself, setting a hand to my face. "I can't do this... how do I do this?" 

"Around and busy all at once? Jeez- Stark's internship must really be getting to you-" She giggled, "I've been really worried though!... of course Mj is Mj and Harry just said that you're probably fine in that weird tone he does when he's clearly hiding something-"

"Gwen?" He said as he unmuted himself, cutting her off, he had to.

"Yea...?"

"I don't like you- I mean you're one of my friends but you kissed me at that whole terrible afterparty that happened and I- I just don't like you that way?" He bit his lip for a moment, pausing to study himself in the mirror. A small smile came to his face, knowing that deep down he knew who he was, who took care of him and who he actually liked without knowing it.
