I unlocked the door and just as I was about to drop my keys on the counter I saw her sleeping at the island. I gently closed the door and gently put my stuff down trying not to wake her. I walked over to look at her computer and it was a study guide for the test and she had a few papers with notes on them. I let out a little laugh and she started to move so I quickly moved away a little. She looked up at me
" oh hey how was your day "
" good good a house fire and two car accidents what did you do "
She healed up the papers then looked at her computer
" oh my god is it real 7 "
She looked at her phone
" I'm sorry I didn't see you texted me um you go get cleaned up and I'll make some food "
Before I left I texted her and asked if she wanted me to get some food or not and she didn't respond so I thought she made food already.

When I was in the shower I could smell whatever she was making and when I came down she was just finishing some pasta
" hey "
She said with a smile. I sat down and she brought me a plate and said
" Fettuccine al burro or better know as fettuccine Alfredo "
Right when she set it down the oven started to beep and she took out garlic bread
" do you want a piece I mean you won't choke on it right "
She smiled and I laughed
" no, I won't "
I said as she put a pice on the plate. I waited for her to sit down before I took a bite
" oh my god "
" you like it "
She smiled and I just looked at her
" This is amazing how did you make it I know I don't have any sauce "
" gross that stuff "
She laughed
" I worked for a restaurant in exchange for a place to stay in Italy and well I memorized this recipe pretty quick "
" you're sure making yourself at home here "
" oh I'm sorry "
" no, it's not a bad thing I mean um you don't have to leave "
She looked at me confused
" I just mean aren't you trying to become a firefighter "
" yeah "
" why not just stay here till you become a probationary firefighter "
" Are you sure "
I could feel the smile growing on my face and she looked surprised

" and I won't be stepping on anyone's toes "

She didn't say anything and I thought for sure she'd hand some remark for that
" you know people usually date and get engaged before they move in together "

We both laughed
" so what time do you work tomorrow "
" 10 to 8 "
" oh is that a better shift "

She got up and walked to the fridge and grabbed two beers completely passing the bottle of wine. She looked at me

She sat back down and popped the tops off the bottles.
