We got a call right before 8 so I had to go with and luckily it was just a car accident so it wasn't going to take to long. When they were getting the mom in the ambulance I called Ruby
" hey "
" Hey what's up "
" Sorry I'm late there was a call just before so "
" Buck it's ok "
" ok umm do you want me to pick up something chines "
" yes that sounds great I'll pay you back "
" no, it's ok what do you want "
" surprise me "
" ok "
I hung up just as we were getting ready to leave.

" oh god I can't eat anymore or I'll explode "
She laughed
" Fortune cookie "
" fine "
She broke hers open and said 
" do the thing you fear and the death of fear is certain "
She smiled and then added
" in bed "
She started to laugh
" ok ok what did you get "
" oh god "
She looked at me with a big smile and I smiled as I said
" It takes less time to do a thing right than it does to explain why you did it wrong ... in bed "
We were both laughing.

A week later I came home and there she was and she made a whole bunch of food and a big smile on her face. I looked at her for a second then remembered they were told of they were probationary or not
" ok so "
" I passed "
She hugged me and I could tell she was super excited
" what station did you get assigned to "
Her smile somehow grew even bigger
" 118 "
I hugged her again and spun her around once
" that's amazing congrats "
" Thanks, I don't think I could have done it without you now come on I'm hungry "
We sat down and she talked about the things they did and what others did that people laughed at. I was washing the dishes and she was leaning against the counter and said
" Buck thank you for everything "
I just looked at her because she made it sound like she was leaving
" oh no I didn't mean it like that "
She smiled and I felt relived
" hey Buck "
" yeah "
She gently put her hand on my cheek and moved forward and kissed me. She pulled away looked at me then I moved forward.
