Chapter 33

Dingding's P.O.V.

With my concert in just two more days, I've been rehearsing endlessly to make sure all my moves are in sync with my dancers. Since I took a break to watch Kevin for a while, I've become a little rusty, so I have to work extra hard to catch up.

After rehearsing for about two more hours, I went to go check up on Kevin. "Look, Kevin, it's mommy!" Rose cooed as Kevin turned to me and began reaching for me. I bent down and took him into my arms, "Hi sweetheart, are you hungry? It's about your lunchtime." I said as I took him into my dressing room and began feeding him.

I watched as he began eating contently, kicking his legs here and there. "Darling, your cousin, Elisa, has been dying to play with you. The last time she saw you you were only three weeks old, I can't believe you're already 6 months old now." I sighed sadly.

My time with him is decreasing as well. Once he was done eating, I sat him on my lap and faced him to me. "Sweetheart, how can mommy ever let you go? But Kevin, if mommy really does leave you one day, it's not because mommy doesn't love you, it's because mommy's fate just wasn't meant to spend the rest of my life with you."

It's almost as if Kevin understood what I said because he began grabbing onto my clothes and rolling his head into my chest. "You will always be mommy's little boy, no matter how far apart we end up, mommy will always watch over you and protect you," I whispered as I continued cradling him in my arms.

I dried my tears quickly before placing him on my hip and exiting my dressing room. Just then, I saw Ruwei walked towards us. "Ruwei? I thought you are gonna be filming until late tonight?" I asked as I handed Kevin to him.

"That was the original plan, but we were able to finish our scenes earlier today so we got let out early. Ding, I brought you some food. I know that whenever you work on something you don't do anything else until you finish that." He chuckled as he handed me a bag of delicious smelling things. Kevin began reaching for the bag, and when I pushed his hand away, he started screaming.

"When you get older, then you can have these, if you have these right now, you're gonna end up in the baby hospital." I laughed as I gave his hand a kiss before telling Ruwei to turn him around. I pulled out a takeout box of noodles and some sort of meat and veggies.

Whatever it is, it smells absolutely delicious. I told everyone to go on their lunch break. I plopped down onto my big, fluffy chair as I started eating, watching Ruwei play with Kevin. Kevin stopped playing with Ruwei when he noticed me eating and watching them.

"Mama!!" He yelled as he began crawling towards me. He grabbed onto my legs, but I just smiled at him and continued eating. "Mama!!" He yelled in a louder tone this time as he tried reaching for my food, I just simply held it higher.

He looked at me for a few seconds, then he turned to Ruwei. I sighed as I set my food down and looked at him, "Kevin, if mommy gives in every single time you're gonna grow up to be a spoiled little boy, and that's the absolute last thing I want to happen to you." I said.

"Mama..." He said as he began crying while continuing to look at me. Every time I look at him, I think about how I'm going to have to eventually leave him. What am I going to say to him on my deathbed? How am I going to leave my own flesh and blood? What am I gonna say to my little boy?

Tears fell down my eyes as I picked him up and held him tightly, patting his back as he continued crying, probably because he thought I didn't want to give him any more attention. "Kevin, mommy loves you so much," I whispered into his ear as I gave him a kiss.

I felt Ruwei sit down next to me as he rubbed my back, "Dingding, don't cry..." He comforted as I looked at my son, who finally stopped crying. "This is all for your good; one day, you will grow up to understand," I said softly before continuing to rock him in my arms.
