As I laid down on my bed, I grunted. I had hurt my shoulder and it wasn't a nice feeling to lay on it." Taliya stop avoiding the conversation." Onji said as she sat on my bed. I sighed.

"Onji, I'll repeat this a hundred times; Ty Lee cannot be trusted. She used to be friends with Princess Azula and she was horrible. Let me not even start on Mai." I said as I sat up and removed my shoes.

"But she's so nice. Did she ever hurt you when you used to live in the capital?"

I sighed knowing the answer will make me sound mean." No. But I don't care."

"Taliya......"

"I'm supposed to be resting. My father is coming in a few days and I need to be up to skill."

"He is?" Onji hadn't met my father but she had heard of him. He was one of the amazing men in the army who were climbing up the ranks fast. She knew he was cruel and that most of my scars were from him.

"Yeah. I don't know why he's coming so soon. I wished he could have stayed more. I hope nothing terrible has happened. But the amazing thing is that Rashan is coming home!"

" Oh no. This is terrible. Once my sister hears that she'll be all over him."

"Don't worry. My brother says he knows how to deal with girls, whatever that means." We both laughed and she left my room a little while as I fell into deep slumber.

I woke up at the sound of weeping. I carefully got out of bed and followed the sound that originated from my mother's room. I slowly opened the door and found her on the floor with a letter in hand." Mom, why are you crying?"

She looked at me startled and started to wipe her tears." I wasn't crying."

I entered her room and knelt down in front of her." Mom," I sighed," Please."

"It isn't news for little girls like you to hear." She whispered.

"Mom, I'm thirteen. I think I can handle anything by now. Plus I'm tired of secrets." I said, hoping she knew I was referring to Zuko. My best friend that I never got to say goodbye, whatever happened to him. I knew my mom knew. Whatever it was, it was horrible for us to move out of the capital.

She sighed and hid her face as she whispered," Your brother is dead."

I stared at the stone carving in front of me. My mother and I had knelt down on the grass and she placed fire lilies at the edge. I thought never seeing my best friend was painful but this......this was undescribable. Rashan hated the war. He didn't want to be a solider, he wanted to be an artist. But because of the war, Firelord Ozai and my father , he became a solider. All Rashan ever did was please my father and it cost him his life.

He was eighteen, my parents had started to look for suitable suitors to be his wife and he was the best firebender I had ever seen. My father had obviously pushed him to the edge to be the best but he used fire like it was an extension of himself not a tool to fight. He believed in love and encouraged me to have a life, not be a solider like he was destined to be. He was the best brother anyone could ask for. And he was gone.

My mother stood up from the grave and left ,I sat there and let my tears to continuously fall down my cheeks." Rashan, I'm so sorry. You didn't want any of this. If it was possible I knew you would have refused to become a solider. This is all Dad's fault. Just because he wanted to be high and mighty. I wish there was no war so we could live happily. I promise I will avenge your death. Your life can't go away in vain. Even if I have to go against the Fire Nation I will. If the Avatar isn't there to stop the war, who will?"
