36. True to the Past

I ducked once she tried to cut me. We had been going at it for some time I didn't realize  the water tribe siblings were both chi blocked." Guys!" I screamed exasperatedly. Ty Lee tried to come at me but I cartwheeled away but once I got on my feet, I felt a dagger scrape my shoulder and I almost fell but my clothing got attached to a tree nearby." Good job on the fighting." I said sarcastically.

"You know I thought when Ty Lee and I caught you guys, it would be more exciting. Oh well, victory is boring." Mai said. She walked over to me and I glared.

"I'm not done with you yet. You know that, right?" I said acidly.

" Oh no it's done. I'm a better fighter than you."

"No you're....." Appa, with his tail made them get blown away to the river and I laughed. He growled.

"Thanks Appa, I don't know what we would have done without you." Sokka said and got licked in the face. I laughed again. We got on Appa and decided to head to Aang while looking for Toph.  We saw blue and red- orange fire at a certain town.

"Aang's down there." Katara said.

"With company that we will not be happy to see." I said as Appa landed on the ground and I jumped down. Katara and I ran to a house that seemed to be in fire. Katara water whipped Azula and she immediately shot fire at us. Aang seemed happy to see us  but we ran away ducking the fire and I threw a dagger at her and she ducked and when she was about to get us, Sokka tried to hit her with his club which she ducked. We surrounded her.

She immediately started shooting fire at us, mostly Aang. We fought back, and when we were about to corner and she immediately fell and when we looked behind to find Toph, smirking.

"I thought you guys could use a little help."

"Thanks." I grinned at her. Azula stood up, shot fire again, ran and we followed her. Iroh blocked her and my eyes lit up. He was here and so was Zuko... and his hair was growing normally again. I took my eyes off of them and glared at Azula. I couldn't imagine this day any better, cornering her .

"Well, look at this, enemies and traitors working together." She said as glanced at us." I'm done. I know when I'm beaten. You got me. A princess surrenders with honour." Her hands were up but I didn't trust her one bit. I didn't notice. I couldn't believe I didn't notice it. As soon as she shot Iroh, it threw my dagger at hoping I would injure her shoulder. I didn't notice the way the rest threw their elements at her. I glanced at Iroh who was really hurt. Their elements caused an explosion. She was gone when the dusty ash disappeared and I saw Zuko by Iroh. I knew I couldn't approach him. I was sure he did not trust me one bit by now.

I looked at Zuko at the way he hit the ground as he stared at his uncle. Maybe this is what I was supposed to do. I had abandoned him for long and I'm pretty sure my team didn't need me now. He shouldn't be staying with Iroh alone. Heck, he shouldn't even been fighting for his life out here. He was supposed to be in the Fire Nation palace as prince. I immediately wiped a tear that was slowly going down my face.

"Get away from us!" He shouted as everyone got closer.

"Zuko, I can help." Katara said and I knew he was too proud to ask for help from a ' water tribe peasant'.

"Leave!" He shot fire at us but I stood exactly where I was. I felt the flames lick but didn't burn me. Sokka grabbed my shoulder but I shrugged it off.

"Zuko, listen to me." I said quietly. His back was turned to me but I was pretty sure he was listening." I can't leave with Iroh hurt like that. Please just let Katara heal him." He finally looked at me. His amber eyes searched mine, I'm pretty sure to see if I was lying or anything. He finally sighed and I motioned Katara to come and heal him quickly. The rest  stayed back. Zuko watched every single thing Katara did and when she was done, she left. I knelt there staring at Iroh who was still unconscious." I'm sorry." I whispered and he didn't answer but looked like he acknowledged what I said. I gave his hand a little squeeze and heading towards my friends.
