'Can I come see you?
Please sweetheart
I need you so much right now'
It took fifteen minutes to make the hike around the exterior of the mall to where they had parked, and he found Hoseok already there, just as Taehying had promised, both of their bags sitting at his feet as he leaned against the hood.
Neither of them said anything as he hit the button on the key fob, each lifting their own purchases into the back seat, setting them up neatly before slipping into the front. Seokin took one final moment to glance at his phone, swallowing down all of the things that threatened to come out in that moment. All of the questions he wanted to ask.
But maybe it was better if he just didn't know. If he was just kept blind. Knowledge was not always power. Sometimes all it did was make you hurt.
'Of course
I have to drop Hoseok off, so give me an hour, okay?
Love you, Kookie'
'I'll be waiting for you
Love you with all my heart, Jinnie'
"So..." They were precisely ten minutes into the drive when Hoseok apparently finally worked up the courage to actually ask about the abrupt and strange end to their little outing. "What was that about?"
"No idea." And that should probably bother him far more than it actually did.
"You gonna ask or -" Was it just going to continue to be one of those unspoken things that he just accepted without question?
"No idea." He knew which option he should follow. Knew which one would cause him less pain. But he had never once been good at knowing what was best for himself.
"If you want my advice -" And honestly, Hoseok was probably the mot unbiased third party he was going to get. "- I would wait and see if he ever brings it up."
"Why is that?"
"Because there are somethings in this life that we don't need to know, Jinnie. And if it's something that's only going to hurt you? You said you love Jungkook. But do you trust him too?" He shouldn't. He knew with everything inside of him that he shouldn't.
"I do." But he did. And there was no denying it.
"Then whatever this is? Let him handle it." Which was exactly what Taehyung had said. And it wasn't like Jungkook had sounded like he was getting ready to betray him and run back to Jimin. If anything, those words he had spoken only reaffirmed what he already felt. What he should already know.
That Jungkook was his. Entirely. Completely. That he was his one and his only and nothing and no one was ever going to change that.
"When did you get so wise?"
"I've watched a lot of dramas." It was enough to make him laugh, to make him burst out the sound. To make him forget his indecision, if only for a moment.
"We must not be watching the same ones then." Because all of them were filled with story lines that always worked out perfectly in the end. Like a fairy tale that had come to life.
"Honestly your real life is probably more entertaining." And he wondered when that particular change had happened. Because his life had always been boring and mundane before that one fateful moment.
Which was, he noted, what always happened in each and every fairy tale. All it ever took was one single moment for everything to suddenly change. Like fate had taken over and he had no control over the course of his own life anymore. And it certainly felt like that. Felt like he was no longer the one deciding which direction his life was meant to go in. No longer picking with path to follow.
"Alright now remember -" Before he knew it they were sitting in front of Hoseok's apartment, music turned down low after they had spent the rest of the ride singing along and dancing, like they had some bottomless pit of energy that was never going to run dry. "- we have to work on Friday, so make sure you cut off access to your ass by Thursday."
"Boy if you don't get out of my car." But he was definitely going to have to implement some kind of rule, considering he barely made it through his shifts last weekend without limping.
"Love you too Jinnie." Hoseok's smile was like the actual sun, bright and warm and he found that light filling his own heart, letting him return it all in spades. Waited until he had grabbed his bags from the back and stood off to the side, waving at him as he pulled away.
'On my way'
He waited until he had pulled up to a red light before fishing his phone out of the center console, typing a quick message while attempt to keep at least part of his attention on the road ahead. But it was so difficult when the message he received in return was in the form of a picture.
Of Jungkook spread out on his bed, like some tantalizing offer that he couldn't refuse even if he wanted to. All beautiful tanned skin and slightly swollen lips that looked pink and bitten. And he quickly realized all of the reasons why. Because there were literal inches of that smooth flesh revealed to the camera, trailing down past the rows of muscles that stood out so predominantly in his abdomen. And it took so little imagination to figure out what he was doing. To know where his other hand had gone.
'Daddy is missing you baby
I can't wait to be inside you'
He cried out, the sound almost inhuman, nearly enough to make him miss the changing of the light from red to green, and he silently thanked whichever god was watching over him that there was no one stuck behind him, waiting impatiently. Continued to sit there despite the way he knew he should move, fingers ghosting over the keys formulating a reply.
The light shifted back to yellow just as he lifted the camera, zooming in as far as he could, letting his lips form into a soft little pout, before sucking the bottom between his teeth and biting it, a tiny moan slipping from between them with the action.
He managed to somehow open the file and input it into their message window with exactly five seconds to spare, tossing the phone into the seat beside him and grasping the wheel as tightly as he could, fully prepared to speed the rest of the way home.
'My mouth is watering already daddy
I can't wait to show you all the pretty things I bought for us'
Hoseok had been right, and the proof of it was already so apparent.
There were some things in life that you truly did not need to know.
And he had been hurt enough by hypotheticals, by the over working of his own mind.
This time, he was going to chose happiness.
