It was the day after the hurricane. JJ and John B passed by Esperanza's dock slowly, they looked up at the same time to see her climbing out of her window, her foot got stuck and she ended up falling on her back. John B and JJ both supressed their laughs as she reached the end of her dock.
"If you say anything.." She said in a warning voice as JJ held out his hand to help her into the boat.
"We didn't see anything." JJ said with a smirk. “Good morning, Es.” JJ said to her.
"Good morning, Jay.” she smiled.
The group past the dock of Heywards. JJ whooped as he saw Pope. “Well look who we have here.”
"We have a safety meeting." John B said.
"Attendance mandatory." Esperanza said, mimicking radio static.
"I can't. My pops got me on lockdown." Pope said to them.
"Come on, P!" Esperanza said.
JJ clutched his shirt as if it were a radio and mimicked static. “Your dad's a pussy over.”
"Oh, I heard that, you little bastard." Heyward said.
Esperanza cupped her hands to exaggerate her yell. "We need your son."
JJ nodded,"Yeah. And island rules. Day after a hurricane is a free day."
"Who made that up."
"Uh..." JJ and Esperanza looked at each other.
"Pentagon, I think. We have security clearance. Es has a card." JJ pointed at Esperanza who smiled.
"Think I'm stupid?" Heyward asked.
"Maybe a little." Esperanza said shruggingly.
"I'll do it tomorrow. I promise. Tomorrow." Pope said looking back at his dad.
"You think- no. No. Hell no. You doin' it now."
"Get in the boat." Esperanza whispered loudly.
"Make a run for it." JJ said.
"Boy if you get in that boat-" Heyward was cut off by his son jumping into the water. Esperanza wood excitedly.
"How does that feel?"
"Go go go." Pope rushed John B.
"Bring your ass back here." Heyward called out.
"I promise I'll do it tomorrow, dad!" Pope called out as he grabbed Esperanza's hand so she could pull him into the boat.
Heyward called out everything Pope was gonna do tomorrow as a punishment for running off with his friends.
"See ya, pops!" Esperanza called out.
"And I don't like your friends!'
"Top of the mornin' to ya" JJ said in a terrible Irish accent when he saw Kiara walking towards them.
