Fortress of Solitude, Genesis Chamber

Metropolis, Delaware

Lex, now in the Genesis Chamber, unzips the body bag of the one and only, General Zod.

"Alexander Luthor, your security override has been accepted, Genesis Chamber ready to analyze the genetic sample," the AI says, as soon as Zod's body hit's the Chamber's fluid, "Acknowledging the presence of genetic material,"

"Analyzing," The AI went silent as it sought out the information in its systems. As he awaits, Lex stares down at Zod's pale face. Caressing it, for a short while, until the AI speaks up, "I've identified the host as...General Zod of Kandor."

Lex pulls out a small knife and places it on his palm. He clenches his hand around it and pulls the knife. With a loud painful grunt, a trail of blood drips onto Zod's purple lips that are slightly submerged in the Genesis Chamber's fluid.

"Acknowledging the presence of genetic material. Analyzing," the AI takes a short pause before saying, "Human,"

Lex swallows as a tear trail's down his cheek, "You flew to close to the sun," He whimpers.

His brow's furrows together as he mumbles, "Now look at you."

Lex pushes Zod's body deeper into the fluid. When Zod is fully submerged, the Genesis Chamber begins the sequence Lex had programed.

"Advising. Action, forbidden," The AI spoke up, giving one last warning to Lex.

Tentacles present themselves underneath Zod, "It has been decreed by the Council of Krypton that none will ever again give life to a deformity so hateful to sight and memory. The desecration without name,"

Lex's voice quivers as he questions, "And where is the Council of Krypton?"

More tentacles emerge from the ceiling directing towards Zod, their target.

"Destroyed, sir," The AI responds.

"Then proceed,"

"Very well. Preparing chrysalis and commencing metamorphosis,"

Mountain

Somewhere in the Artic

Somehow, Clark's 'soul searching'-as Sarah put it-led him to the Arctic. A place he's been many times before while trying to melt into the shadows of society.

With each step, Clark gets closer to the mountain's peak, and soon, the arctic wind wasn't the only thing he was hearing. The sound of rocks being tossed into a pile causes Clark to pick his gaze up from the snow-topped ground and what he sees, shocks him.

There's a man.

Clark searches the nearby trees as he thinks, 'Perhaps this man has companions,' But that isn't true. The man was alone.

When the man looks up, Clark could get a better view of his face, that's when he stops walking towards him.

Clark could not believe his eyes, the man is his father, 'But that can't be,' Clark thinks as he looks away, 'My father's dead,'

"I remember one season the water came bad. I couldn't have been twelve," John began.

Clark's brows furrow in confusion. He's heard the beginning of this story plenty of times.

"Dad had out the shovels and we went at it all night. We worked till, I think, I fainted. But we managed to stop the water. We saved the farm. Your grandma baked me a cake. Said I was a hero. Later that day we found out we blocked the water all right. We sent it upstream, the whole Barton farm washed away. While I ate my 'hero 'cake, their horses were drowning. I used to hear them wailing in my sleep,"

Clark turned his back on his dad, taking in a deep breath, "Did the nightmares ever stop?" He asks, hoping to get an answer out of him. Clark knows in his heart that the John behind him isn't real, that's why he looked away because he knows when he turns around, his father will be gone.

To his surprise, Clark got a response.

"...Yeah...When I met your mother...She gave me faith that 'I was' good for this world...She was my world,"

As soon as his father said those words, Clark realizes everything he needed was back home, in Metropolis. Now, he's beating himself up because he regrets leaving Sarah.

"I miss you, Son,"

"I miss you too, Dad." he responds turning slightly around to find that John was gone, that didn't, however, stop him from finishing what he wanted to say, "I wish you were here. You would've told me not to leave Sarah in the first place...like mom was your world, Sarah is mine."
