Chapter 55: Crocus

I sigh as I walk home after the teams were chosen. "Reserve member again? I was a reserve member in Afterglow."

a/n: lol sorry you're a reserve again. i'm referencing that you were reserve in my other book, afterglow.

We were in Crocus. I had arrived with some other people. I look ahead and see the team that was going to compete. "Guys!" I call out as we reach them. "Y/n?" Erza questions as she sees me and some other people.

"We've just finished getting you signed up. Let's show everyone what Fairy Tail is made of!" Master laughs. We then hear to our side some people laughing and pointing at us.

"Let it go." I tell Natsu who's ready to fight them.

"You're gonna come last again!"
"Sabertooth's going to win for sure!"

"If anyone wants to laugh, let em laugh." Master tells Natsu who's fuming.

"Don't mind if I do!" Happy says and starts laughing in Jet and Droy's faces.

"Don't look at us and laugh!" Jet and Droy yell in sync.

"Listen up! We're doing this for the 30 million- I mean... to be Fiore's top guild! Give it your all!" Master tells the five. "Unless we do something, we won't be fit to face our founding master who saved our lives! Now, then. The games begin tomorrow... but we unfortunately don't know what they're be."

"Huh? But we've taken part for years." Natsu questions.

"They change the games every year." Alzack explains.

"The total score over several contests determines the winner, though." Droy says after. 

"I looked through some old records on the train ride here, but found no consistency to the games." I tell them.

"Then I guess we play it by ear! I sure hope there's a battle!" Natsu says. 

"We sense unusual magic power during the games every year." 

Jellal's words echo in my head. Master then hands Erza a book with the words, "Rule Book" on it. "Read through the official rulebook by tomorrow." Master orders. 

"I have to read all this?!"

I take the book from her, "I also read this on the train ride. There's basically 3 major things. Rule number one is that the master of each guild isn't allowed to participate," 

"Makes sense." Master comments. 

"Those without a guild's emblem can't participate as a guild's guest." 

"Makes sense." Gray says. 

"Each game will remain a secret until just before it begins, at which time the game's rules will be revealed. One very important note, all participants must return to their designated inn by 12, midnight." I finish explaining. 

Natsu looks a clock, "We have plenty of time! Since we're in such a huge city and all, let's go exploring!" He runs off with Happy and Lucy behind him. 

"Do you wanna explore the city?" I ask Erza. She shakes her head, "I'm staying at the inn to make sure everyone makes it back on time." 

"I'll go with you." Gray offers. 

I nod, "I'll see you later!" I tell Erza before walking off with Gray.

"I think you look pretty!" I laugh as I place a flower crown on his head and then on Finn's. "Gray my darling!" We hear someone call out. We look over and see Juvia.
