Chapter 78: Simon | Final Day

"Release her at once." Kagura demands.

"Perhaps in a bit, but right now I plan to show you how a queen wages in a war." Minerva responds.

Kagura places her hand on her sword, "I will repeat this once more. Repeat my comrade and I will allow you to live."

"If you want to save her then come and take her." Minerva challenges. With incredible speed, Kagura appears face to face with Minerva as Y/n watches from afar. Kagura gets ready to pierce Minerva with her sword, "You'll be the 2nd tiger I feast upon!"

Minerva says calmly to Kagura, "Hopefully this tiger tastes better than your last."

As Kagura prepares to attack, Minerva uses her magic to switch places with Y/n before she can do so. Y/n's eyes widen and she places her sword out in front of her before Kagura's swing hits her. "You ladies can go ahead and battle it out. I'll wait and take on the victor after she's weakened." Minerva says as she starts walking off.

"You're running from a fight you interrupted?! And you call yourself a queen!" Y/n says to Minerva.

"A real queen moves her pawns to fit her strategy." Minvera explains. "If anything you should be flattered. I must admit I underestimated your combined power. I now realize I wouldn't stand a chance against the two of you, but in the end it's irrelevant."

"Let Millianna go!" Y/n yells.

"I'm warning you." Y/n hears Kagura mumble. Y/n looks at Kagura in front of her. "Don't you dare..." Kagura gives a powerful headbutt to Y/n's face and it separates the two. "Don't pretend to be Millianna's friend!"

"My my. It seems like you ladies have some catching up to do. I'll just be on my way." With a swipe of her hand, Millianna disappears.

"I accept your terms, just leave Millianna out of this!" Kagura begs. Minerva says nothing as she disappears too.

Y/n sighs, "She's got us in quite a bind."

"Be quiet." Kagura says in low voice. "I don't speak to my enemies," Kagura turns over her shoulder to look at Y/n and she has this evil look on her face, "I destroy them."

"I see. It's time for one of us to end this." Y/n tells Kagura.

"I'm not holding back." Kagura warns.

Y/n nods, "I'll be insulted if you did." The two swing the swords and they clash once again. However, Kagura manages to push Y/n back with the impact of their collision.

Y/n quickly regains her posture back. "Orion's Swords!" She casts. Multiple light swords appears over Kagura's head. She jumps up to dodge them.

"Archenemy: Blast Form!" Looking down on
Y/n from above and acquiring her, Kagura aims the tip of her Archenemy at Y/n's current standing position as she comes crashing down with immense speed and renowned strength, catching Y/n off guard as she manages to destroy the terrain around them with said blow. "Slash Form!"

"Scutum!" A light shield appears in front of
Y/n. However, despite her attempt to block the incoming attack, her efforts prove to be futile nonetheless as Kagura dives down on her, completely dismantling one of her strongest defense in possessions.

Y/n recovers as quick as she can and grabs her sword again. "Étoile Rapide!" Y/n glows yellow and her speed increases. Y/n charges at Kagura at high speed and Kagura, unfazed, simply holds her Archenemy out in front of her. Somehow, Kagura inflicts the damaged directed at her on Y/n.

Y/n screams out as she crashes down to an underground area of Crocus. Kagura descends alongside her, maintaining her stability. Y/n is bent over trying to catch her breath. After a while, she stands up straight.

"I... I saw you during the battle with Yukino from Sabertooth... I was impressed and hoped that I could have the opportunity to fight with you." Y/n smiles as she reveals this to Kagura. Y/n remembers what Erza had told her about Kagura and Millianna. "I suppose your strength is fueled by your hatred for Jellal."

Kagura's anger grows. She walks over to Y/n and kicks her in the stomach, sending Y/n flying backwards and slamming her on a nearby pillar.

"You have every right to hold on to your hatred..." Y/n says quietly as she remembers the incident at the Tower of Heaven. "...but please, don't force Millianna to go down that road with you. She's moving on."

"This was his will," Kagura says before lifting her sword and swinging at Y/n again, causing her to crash onto another pillar. "And now it is mine as well. I will kill Jellal."

Y/n stands up. She struggles to do so, but she stands up again. "What happened? What drove you to these extremes?" Y/n asks as she wipes some blood off of her mouth.

"The man who's will I speak of it turns out you knew him very well. His name was Simon and Jellal killed him. He was my brother." Kagura reveals.

Y/n's eyes widen.

She closes her eyes and she opens then when she hears a blast. She seems Simon had taken the hit. She stands up despite all the pain. Simon falls and Erza goes to his side. She hears her crying again. She wants to go to him. She wants to hug her. She's frozen though. She watches as Simon dies in Erza's arm and Erza starts sobbing.

"You're his sister?!" Y/n asks in disbelief.

"Our family was poor, but happy. Until that happiness was stolen from us. One night, these strange men showed up at our village. It was a child hunt. I managed to escape. I vowed to find my brother. I spent years searching for him. That is, until I met Millianna. That's when I found out my brother had been killed and how much he had suffered. He was imprisoned, tortured, and enslaved for years. Then he was brutally murdered. By your brother, Y/n Fernandes. I was plunged into darkness. That's when I took a new vow. To avenge his death and when the time comes for me to fulfill that vow, Archenemy shall remain in its sheath." She tells the story to Y/n.

Y/n speaks up, "There's something that you need to know. Millianna... she didn't see your brother die. She wasn't there. It was only Erza, Natsu, Jellal, and me..." Y/n stays silent as she remembers the events again. She swallows the lump in her throat, "I can see why you think Jellal was responsible for the death of your brother. It was me."

"You lie just to defend your brother?!"

"It's true. If I hadn't been so weak... Simon would be here." A tear escapes Y/n's right eye. She wipes it away quickly and she looks up to see Kagura pull out her sword that she said she was to keep sheathed for Jellal.

Y/n pulls out her sword and places it out to defend herself from Kagura's strike. The clash of the two sword destroys abundant amount of structures nearby.

"Simon saved us. As did Grandpa Rob. And as well as many of my dear friends. If I were to throw that away here and now," Y/n jumps back and points the sword she still had sheathed at Kagura, "I would dishonor everything they've done for me."

"You're just as terrible as your brother! I'll kill you both!" Kagura shouts and charges at Y/n again. Kagura swings her sword and Y/n jumps back to dodge the attack.

"I won't let that happen. I don't know the pain of losing a brother and I never want to know that pain. But if the hatred for us is what drives your life then so be it. It's not my place to tell you how to think or feel. But I will not let you take him away from me. I'll kill you before you can even lay on finger on him."
