Chapter 73: Love, Y/n

The cloaked figured watched as the crowd went wild over her guild.

This day. I remember the happiness, the tears shed, the smiles on everyone's faces. It's a day you can't quite forget. I remember Day 4 far more clearly than any other day. When I remember this day, it reminds me why I'm still trying to change the future. What kind of Fairy Tail member would I be if I just gave up? I remember the crowd's cheer, the way the stadium rumbled because of the loud cheers.

Y/n runs up to Natsu as she seems him up ahead high five-ing his exceed partner and Lily. "Natsu!" Y/n calls out. Natsu turns around. The two high five when she reaches him, but Natsu then turns the high five into a hug. Y/n laughs as Natsu shakes her around.

I remember the whispers that went around the stadium. Didn't matter which guild you supported, you were impressed by the Fairy Tail guild.

"Good going, Natsu!" Natsu and Y/ hear Gray. Natsu lets Y/n down. Erza starts walking up to them. "I'll give you genuine praise for today, Natsu." Erza says to him.

From the boo's, the laughing, and from having the support of no one besides your own guild, it was an upgrade.

Erza grabs Natsu's head and slams his head onto her armor trying to hug him.

I even remember what some of the crowd was saying.

"What happened to Gajeel?" Lily asks.

"Oh, yeah, that jerk suddenly ran off at some point! Does he even know what "team battle" means?!" Natsu says.

"They didn't give up." "They went from 0 to number 1!" "They're amazing!" "They determination is such an inspiration!" "They're the legendary Fairy Tail guild!"

"Have you seriously forgotten what you did yourself?!" Lily asks.

So how exactly does one become legendary?

"We have to get some rest tomorrow in preparation for the final day's survival battle." Erza says.

The key, win or lose, is to never fail. And the only way to fail is not to fight.

"The final round already." Y/n squeals.

So you fight until you can't anymore.

"We're gonna finish things once and for all!" Gray declares.

Hold up your head and enter the arena and face the enemy.

"First we win! Then I'll fight you two of you!" Natsu points at the three.

Fight until you can't anymore.

"Very well." Erza agrees.

Never let go. Never give up. Never run. Never surrender. Fight the good fight. You fight.

"Man, you're really getting ahead of yourself." Gray sighs.

Even when it seems inevitable that you're about to go down swinging.

We laugh and start making our way to the infirmary. When we enter the infirmary, we are greeted by smiles from the ones in there. "Welcome back!" Lucy says to us.

Why did we even try when the barriers were so high and the odds were so low?

"You're not gonna ask how it went?" Natsu asks her.

Why exactly did we keep going when no one believed in us?

Lucy shakes her head, "I already know you kicked butt out there."

"Well it's not the end yet. It's just getting started." Natsu says.

"Let's fight to win! Right?" Wendy exclaims.

"Of course." I say after her.

Why didn't we just pack it up and go home?

"Yeah, we started in last place on the first day." Elfman smiles as we all remember the scoreboard reading 0 for Fairy Tail A and 1 for Fairy Tail B.

It would've been so, so much easier.

"The crowd even boo-ed us." Evergreen recalls.

It's because in the end, there's no glory in easy.

"We suffered humiliation and frustration... but now victory is one step away!" Erza smiles.

"It's like you said, Y/n!" Lucy looks at me. I tilt my head in confusion. She reminds me, ""0 is a great start.Cause when we make a comeback, it'll be even more impressive." You also said we were going to be sad about the failures during the games, but whatever we do, we cannot fall apart. We didn't. Now, we're close to victory."

No one remembers easy.

I just smile. Master Makarov then appears on Lucy's bed out of nowhere and shouts, "Let's win the 30 million Jewels!"

"That's not what this is about!" We all yell in sync.

They remember the blood and the bones and the long, agonizing fight to the top.

Natsu raises his fist into the air, "Let's win the title of Fiore's greatest!"

"Yeah!" We all shout.

And that is how you become legendary.
