Chapter 80: The Greatest | Final Day

Y/n reaches the place where the firework was shot from. She sees all the others just as beaten as she was. They come together and stand side by side. "We'll fight you one on one, pick somebody." Gray tells Sting.

"Why not all at once? With those injuries one on one will be boring." Sting shrugs.

"Do not underestimate us. Ask your comrades." Juvia tells Sting.

"Wouldn't dream of it. I'm trying to treat you with the respect you deserve. That's why I'll destroy you all together! I've been waiting for this moment! I'll show you how strong I've become! I'll do it for Lector!" Sting declares.

"You wanna fight us by yourself? Are you serious?" Laxus asks.

"Of course I am! I'm more than a match for you! Losing Lector caused me pain, but it also granted me more power. For Lector, for my best friend, I'm gonna beat you and win it all!"

Y/n smiles, "Very well. We'll give you the fight you want."

"Now you're talking!" Sting exclaims as he starts charging up his magic. "Be prepared to witness the awakened power of a dragon slayer!"

The five Fairy Tail wizards don't move and stand in front of him, waiting for his attack to come. He stops and just watches them with surprise. He was hesitating. He tried taking a step forward, but couldn't. He fell onto his knees. "I can't... I can't beat you." Sting states quietly. "I surrender."

The crowd booms with cheers.

"It's over!"

Fireworks explode in the sky.

"The winner of the Grand Magic Games is Fairy Tail!"

Y/n laughs before she falls onto her knees, exhausted. She looks at Sting and stands up again, making her way over to him. "Why did you back down?" Y/n asks him, squatting down to look at him eye to eye.

His voice trembled, "I was so sure I was going to win... That's all I had to do and I would see him again, but all of a sudden... I just lost hope. I don't know why exactly, but I know I don't have your strength and I guess I feel like I don't deserve to see him. Not yet."

"You'll see him again." Y/n tries assuring him.

"Y/n." She hears someone call her name. She turns around and sees Millianna holding a cat in her hands. Millianna is waving over and all Sting could focus on was the cat in her hands. It was Lector. Sting stands up and starts running towards Millianna. Lector jumps out of Millianna's arm and starts running towards Sting. The two were crying as they embrace each other.

It was heartwarming.

Y/n smiles at the two before smiling at her team. "We did it!" Y/n cheers as she runs over to Juvia and Gray and pulls them into a hug. She pulls away from them after a second and goes to hug Gajeel and Laxus. "I wish Erza and the others were here to celebrate with us." Y/n says as she pulls away from the two boys. She looks up and loves the sight of the fireworks.

"I guess that feeling I felt earlier today really was nothing." Y/n says to herself.

"Man, that sound is incredible," Gray says regarding the cheers, "I can hear it all the way from here."

"This is awesome!" Juvia comments.

"Jeez will they shut up? All their yelling is making my ears hurt." Gajeel scoffs.

"Don't be like that." Y/n playfully shoves him before looking at Laxus, "I bet the Master is crying with excitement."

"Let's put the geezer aside. This makes up for the 7 years of humiliation the guild had to endure." Laxus says. Y/n looks at Sting and Lector and see them still hugging and crying.
