"You better fix this."
It was more of a demand, and less of a request, Jung-kook realized when his daughter called him in the middle of the night. The urgency in her voice betrayed the absolute necessity of having that demand being met.
"Stick to the script," Eun-hye commanded, her words coming across as a threat. Desperation probably drove her to act irrationally, and the lack of knowledge of Jung-kook's own tribulations.
"Don't you think that Taehyung has the right to know what happened?" Jung-kook questioned, unsure why he's even giving the option to his daughter to refute.
"And open old wounds?" Eun-hye replied. "If you thought it was a good idea to let him know about your past, why didn't you tell him when you had the chance? Didn't that also mean you considered what the consequences were to be, if he had found out that your family was the one who rendered him cripple?"
"But I did not lie to him, I merely withheld information," Jung-kook responded. "If he had asked, I would have told."
"Lying by omission is also misrepresenting the truth," Eun-hye argued on technicality. "We are simply painting a darker picture of it, one that would prevent Papa from digging up further. So tomorrow, when you come here, convince him that there's no reason for him to see you again."
The abrupt silence signaled the end of their conversation.
Equally, if not more surprised, was Taehyung the next morning when he entered the living room.
"What the heck is your father doing here?" Taehyung asked loud enough for Jung-kook to hear it, earning an embarrassed glance from the latter.
"I invited him here, to clear up some things," Eun-hye said.
"What things?" Taehyung queried.
"Stuff you're curious about," Alex chimed in.
"The photo in particular," Jimin laid the picture on the table and Jung-kook picked it up, smiling wistfully.
Taehyung looked up from his chair, expectantly. "So.....I gather that's you in the picture."
"Yes, yes, it is," Jung-kook confirmed.
"And the other? Was it me?"
Around him, Jung-kook saw the discreet, but knowing glances exchanged.
"No. It wasn't."
