That was one of the last times Jung-kook saw his mother, because she died soon after that.

Many people attended Mrs. Jeon's funeral but very few were family. Jung-kook informed Eun-hye of her grandmother's passing, but she didn't seem to care. He could not fault her daughter for behaving that way, so it surprised him when she showed up with her family in tow.

"Thank you all for coming," Jung-kook greeted the group.

"We're sorry for your loss, Uncle," Alex said, giving his father-in-law a brief hug.

"Ah, it's hers because she didn't get to see her great-grandson," Jung-kook remarked, looking towards the child in Eun-hye's arms.

Alex looked flustered as he nudged his wife and the motion did not go unnoticed.

"Don't worry, Alex," Jung-kook assured. "It's not like she was nice to you when she's alive. We were all under such immense pressure to conform, and I should have been stronger. But that's over now, so can I carry my grandchild for a second?"

"Su... sure, Uncle," Alex said as he took the child from Eun-hye and handed him over.

As soon as he laid eyes on the boy, Jung-kook's face turned brighter in contrast to the sombre atmosphere.

"Taemin certainly does look a lot like me," Jung-kook cooed, glancing at Taehyung sitting beside the young couple.

"Dad... how did you know?" Eun-hye asked, looking suspiciously at her father.

Realizing his blunder, Jung-kook waved his hand. "Oh, you must have told me, but you probably forgot."

The man in the wheelchair played with his fingers, pretending to be interested in the surroundings. He knew that he was the one who regaled Jung-kook with stories about their grandchild, revelling in the fact that they shared something in common. He enjoyed the company of the elusive, but charming man, so much that he went out of his way to meet him.

Taehyung did not consider his excursions to be unfaithfulness; after all, they were not doing anything more than just chatting. But why did he feel a pang of guilt whenever he had to lie and not tell his family where he was really going?

"Ah, how rude of me, Uncle," Alex interrupted, breaking the silence hanging in the air. "I forgot to introduce my parents to you. This carrot-top here is my Dad, Jimin. And the one who thinks he could fly by the seat of his pants, here, is my Papa, Taehyung."
