1995, Present Day

"You don't know what love is!!!!" shouted the woman wearing a long, billowy skirt; her soft curls framing her stern face. She stood with her back towards the harsh light, defining her slim stature. Her words were directed at the man before her, the man whose hair had become grey with each passing season, and even though he had aged, his love for her had not.

With pleading eyes, he looked at the woman with her fists clenched by her side. He somehow had forgotten, that she's an adult now, not some little girl from years ago who bounced on his lap, clamouring for the same princess story to be read an umpteenth time before she fell asleep in his arms. Those were fond memories he refused to let go, opting instead to shelve them away at the back of his frail mind.

"Please listen to me, Eun-Hye" his voice trailed, afraid that it would betray the sadness that started to form at the pit of his stomach, threatening to show on his face.

"I'm done listening to you or to grandmother. You never seem to understand me." Eun-Hye said, trying not to weaken her resolve.

"But I am listening," the man protested, taking another step towards the woman who was adamantly telling him he wasn't.

"You say you are, and yet you try to force your opinion on me, using our 'Korean culture' as an excuse and I'm sick and tired of following these so-called traditions that don't bring me happiness," Eun-Hye said, her chest heaving with anger.

"But you know how it is, your grandmother will not let you, our family won't allow you..." the man persuaded, hoping his words would find their way to his daughter's heart.

"And who exactly is your family? Last time I checked I thought I was." Eun-Hye questioned her father.

"You understand what I mean...," the figure sighed with consternation.

"No, explain to me why I can't, and I don't want to hear anything about 'losing face' or any of that nonsense because I'm getting married to the person whom I chose and not to the whole Goddamn Korean society!" screamed Eun-Hye at the man whom she assumed would side with her.

Eun-Hye's father was at a loss for words. He never expected that one day he had to make a choice between his mother's "wishes" and his daughter's happiness. If he had known this from the beginning, he probably would have locked Eun-Hye up so she wouldn't meet her boyfriend Alex, or any boy for that matter.

But he realized this wouldn't be fair to Eun-Hye. He brought her up in a way that he would have desired for himself, hoping that by this time, a quarter of a century later, things would have evolved, that society would advance, or better yet, people would have changed.

But this was all wishful thinking on Jeon Jung-Kook's part.
