"Sir! Sir!" Sae-ron's frantic whisper-shout rattled Jung-kook.

"You miss me already?" The employer chided his housekeeper.

"No, sir," the maid shook her head as she closed the door behind her. "Be quiet, there's someone here to see you."

"What's wrong?" Now, it was Jung-kook's turn to be frazzled.

Sae-ron tugged the man's sleeve and pulled him aside. "It's Taehyung... or a man who looks like Taehyung....but it's not him."

At the drop of that name, Jung-kook froze on his spot. His heart beating wildly against his chest. He must be dreaming.

"You... you make little sense, Sae-ron." Jung-kook stuttered, his head still spinning. "What do you mean?

"I don't know... he just doesn't seem to recognize me."

"Maybe because you look older." Jung-kook teased.

"I'm serious! He seems... different."

"People do change," Jung-kook remarked as he strode across the bedroom and opened the door. A minute longer talking to Sae-ron would be a minute less to see Taehyung for himself. He wanted to run as fast as he could, but his knees were trembling. Not knowing how he descended the flight of stairs, Jung-kook came face to face with his best friend, his long-lost love, his.........

"Ah, you must be Jeon Jung-kook," Taehyung announced as he observed the man whose cheeks were flushed red.

Jung-kook's eyes fluttered rapidly at the greeting. It couldn't be. This person, whom he was certain, was THE Taehyung whose lips he once kissed, whose body he once embraced, now called him by his full name as if he was doing it for the first time.

"Ah.....right, yes, yes I am" Jung-kook nodded, despite the conflicting emotions swirling in his chest. He had to stop his heart from lurching at the sight of the male figure leaning back against the wheelchair.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Taehyung."

Taking the man's extended hand and shaking it, Jung-kook became bewildered. Should he pretend that all those years never happened? Should he give Taehyung a hug like he wanted to right now? Jung-kook bit his bottom lip to keep his tears from trickling. He didn't know if this was such a good idea, meeting his past lover only to find out he's not the same person he once cherished. Or rather, that the man who once loved him, no longer did.
