"Mr. Washington?" A woman asked as she stood by the door to George Washington's office. "Your request to grant a scholarship has been approved."

George Washington was a Professor at Lin Manuel Miranda High, one of the top schools in New York. A few weeks ago, he requested to offer a scholarship to a student who was top of their class and not as fortunate to go to such an amazing school. The candidates were underprivileged children who had a ruff childhood/life. Mainly for kids in foster care, orphanages, kids that only had one parent, kids that were sickly, etc.

"Who have they chosen?" George asked curiously. He wasn't quite sure who all the candidates were for the program.

"Well Sir, that's why I'm here. They sent me a list of five names. You get to pick the lucky child." The woman responded with a smile.

The woman handed him a piece of paper with five children and a little information about each one. Washington looked at the list. So small, yet he had no idea who to choose. He finally closed his eyes and pointed to a name. He circled it with a pen and handed the paper back to the woman.

"Here you are Miss." Washington replied to her with a smile.

"Excellent!" The woman cheered. "We will send out a letter before the first day of school begins to let them know."

The woman left George's office and he decided to get back to his work.
Summer break had come and gone, and Washington was doing his best to get ready for the new school year. He taught US History and American Government. George loved teaching children and was very excited for someone less fortunate to get to come to his school. He looked at the file of the kid he had chosen. The folder was surprisingly big. He didn't know if that was a good or bad thing though. Washington decided to take a peek anyway at his new pupil. He liked to know a little bit about the children he taught, although he never asked about anything personal. There was a line that a teacher shouldn't cross, but he still wanted to know a little bit about this new kid. So he began to read.

When the day was done, and everything was ready for school to begin next week, Washington went home to his house. He was very wealthy and owned a decently large plantation he inherited from his family. Even though it wasn't a mansion, it was still very large and magnificent, but still quaint and cozy.

When he arrived, he parked his car in the driveway and went inside his house for the night. He was of course greeted by his lovely wife, Martha.

"How was your day?" She asked.

"Great. You will never guess what happened today." Washington smirked.

"I assume you'll still tell me anyway." Martha laughed.

"Remember about two months ago, when I requested the school to grant a scholarship to a kid who can't afford to go to a better school?" George asked.

"Yes." Martha nodded and waited for her husband to continue.

"They approved it. On the first day of school, a foster boy will get to be attending based on his merit instead of money." Washington said proudly.

"That's great darling!" Martha smiled. "You always are caring for others."

"Thank you, but you deserve part of the credit." Washington smiled.

"For what?"

"For being my wife." He leaned in and gave her a kiss. "What time is it?"

"The boys are asleep if that's what you're asking." Martha giggled.

"How about we open up a bottle of champagne then to celebrate the occasion?"

"Sounds like a plan to me."

Washington went over to his secret wine cabinet and grabbed a bottle of champagne. Martha then went over and grabbed two glasses from the cabinet. She then brought them over to him.

"So, you excited to work this year? The boys will be in your class." Martha asked as she took a sip of champagne from her glass.

"Well, I hope that is a good thing. But I am of course excited. The new year gives me a new chance to help some kids with their education, and hopefully get them into a good college." George also took a sip.

"How about a toast?"

"Sure." Washington smirked. "A toast to John Laurens, that he enjoys Lin Manuel Miranda high!"

A/N: I know this is short and kinda sucks, but bare with me. The next chapter will be better.
