It had been a few days since Alexander got amnesia. He was starting to remember things again.

"So, who is that?" Eliza asked while at the cafe.

"Mary? Molly? Maddie?" Alexander tried, and failed.

"Maria. Maria Lewis." Eliza helped him out.

Maria came over to take their order.

"Two of my usuals. I'll be right back." Eliza said. She got up and started walking towards the bathroom.

"Hey Alex." Maria winked.

"Hi, Maria?" He almost immediately forgot her name.

"Glad to see you're remembering things again." She twisted a lock of her brown hair. "What do you remember about me?" She sat down at his table.

"You're friends with Eliza. And you work here part time for your mom?"

"Yay, he does remember me." She leaned in closer to him. "Well, there's a little more than that."

"What?" Alexander raised an eyebrow.

"We used to date." Maria lied.

"Really? Eliza didn't tell me that." Alexander was confused.

"Well, she didn't know. It was before you two met." She continued lying.

"Was it serious?"

"Are you kidding? We almost had a baby. I got the day after pill though." Maria lied some more.

Alexander was a virgin. Being in the foster system, he never had time to fall in love, none the less make the love. He didn't find the right person.

"Wow. Eliza had no idea?" Alexander asked shocked.

"Has no idea." She emphasized on the has.

"Why did we break up?" Alexander questioned.

"I was wondering the same thing. Our relationship was a secret, you dumped me the day before people found out you were dating Eliza. I hope you didn't think that a waitress wasn't good enough for you." Maria gave a fake whimper.

"Are you sure? I don't remember any of that." Alexander protested.

"Do you remember when your car got vandalized?"

"No."

"Well there you go, go home and ask Laurens. He'll tell you that you all went to a movie, and your car was vandalized.

"Oh." He thought she was telling the truth. "Should we tell Eliza?"

"What she doesn't know won't kill her." Maria said as she leaned closer to him. "I haven't told my boyfriend."

"Who's your boyfriend?" Alexander asked.

"James Reynolds. But it's a bad relationship that I'm hoping to get out of." This time she was actually speaking the truth.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have broken up with you." Alexander thought. Why would he date Eliza when someone just as pretty was already dating him?

"Its ok cutie." She leaned in and planted her lips on his.

"MMH!" He was shocked. She pulled away and looked over at him.

"What's wrong?" Maria said with little puppy eyes.

"Wha- ... I'm dating Eliza." Alexander protested.

"But we clearly still love each other." Maria smirked. "Here, take this." She slipped him a piece of paper. It had a phone number on it that he assumed was hers.

"Maybe you should call me tonight." She smiled then got up to make their order.

Alexander just sat there shocked. He did end things badly with her, right? Maybe he just owed her one last date.

"So, what'd I miss?" Eliza came back.

"Nothing. Just me being bored waiting for you to come back." He lied.

"Good. So, anything new since the last day we've seen each other?" She joked. But there was something that happened, not in the past day, but the past five minutes.

"Not really." He shrugged.

After the 'date', Alexander ran home to tell Laurens.

"You did WHAT!?!?!?!?!?"

"We kissed. I don't know what to do now. I didn't know we dated." Alexander informed him.

"I didn't know either, I thought nobody kept secrets in this house?" Laurens tried to calm down.

"Me too. But I don't remember so I couldn't really give you a reason." Alexander sighed.

"I mean, this is serious. What if you did date?" Laurens asked. "Come on you have to try and think."

"Did I have a car that got vandalized? That's what Maria said after."

"Great. Are you absolutely sure Maria was telling the truth?"

"Why would she lie to me?" Alexander questioned.

"Well. You have to tell Eliza." Laurens said.

"What! If I tell her she could dump me. She's technically the one that kissed me anyway." Alexander exclaimed.

"Then you can't let her do it again." Laurens said before leaving the room.

Alexander sat on his bed, debating.
Call her, don't call her, call her, don't call her, call her, don't call her.

After thirty minutes of debating, he gave into the pressure. He pulled out his phone, dialed in the number Maria gave him on the peice of paper, and wrote something out.

Alexander: can we meet up tomorrow and talk about what happened today?
Maria: What do you mean?
Alexander: You can't be serious?
Maria: If you want to talk that's fine by me.
Alexander: Good, what time do you get done working tomorrow?
Maria: I don't remember, I'll have to check my schedule real quick.

Alexander waited a few minutes before the text messages started coming back onto his screen.

Maria: Seven Thrity on the dot.
Alexander: meet me at eight o clock at...
Maria: Your school parking lot?
Alexander: Sure, fine. My school parking lot.
Maria: I'm assuming I need to be there alone?
Alexander: You definitely need to be there alone.
Maria: That means you cant bring Laurens or Lafayette.
Alexander: Fine. Just make sure you're there on time. If either of us is more than five minutes late we reschedule the whole thing.
Maria: ok, I hope this meeting goes better than out last. 😘
Alexander: don't read this the wrong way, but I would prefer not the emoji right now.
Maria: ok, I'll se you tomorrow night cutie.

Alexander got off his phone. What had he just done? What if Eliza found out? What if Laurens tells her? He thought to himself. Maybe I should text her back and call the whole thing off right now. But I do owe it to her to talk about this. Right? What if I fall in love with her again? Nothing he told himself would prepare him for what was about to happen.
