A/N: be glad that I changed my mind cause y'all voted to kill Laurens. I am a merciful person however, so I will be going with the runner up.
Alexander woke up on the couch. Martha was there with him, but there was no sign of Washington, Lafayette, or Joh....
JOHN! He remembered he never came home the other night."Hey Alex." Martha noticed him wake up. "You Ok sweetheart?"
"Why am I here? I thought I was in the car." Alexander questioned.
"You passed out and George had to bring you in. He said you got to sleep on the couch because he was too tired to bring you upstairs." She laughed.
"Where is he now?"
"He and Laf went out to look for Laurens. The police want to assume he ran away, but we all know he would never do that." Martha sighed. They had all missed him. Even though he was only apart of their family for a little while, it was hard to imagine life without him. "Are you hungry?"
Alexander nodded. Martha got up and went into the kitchen. Before he knew it, his phone started ringing. He hoped it was Washington with some good news, but read Eliza's ID.
"Eliza?"
"Good, I called you three times but you didn't answer." Eliza chuckled.
"Yeah, I just woke up actually." Alexander yawned.
"Well, I'm assuming by the fact that you weren't at school that Laurens never came back?"
"You assume right. I'll probably go out and look for him after I get cleaned up." He realized he was still wearing the same clothes as yesterday.
"Ok, after school maybe me and Peg can... Oh my gosh!!"
"Eliza what's wrong!" Alexander worried.
"T-turn.... on.... t-he..... n-news." She finally stuttered out.
"What?"
"Do... it." Her voice had a terrible sound to it, as if she had just come face to face with death.
Alexander walked over and turned on the living room TV. The news headline read....
Huge Prison Break Out! Five Prisoners escaped! Including, Daniel Craigson, Peter Douglas, and Henry Laurens!
Alexander dropped his phone. He got lucky it landed on the couch or it would've smashed on the hardwood floor.
"Eliza, I gotta go!"
"Ok." She cried. "Bye."
Alexander quickly scrolled through his contacts until he came across Washingdad.
"Alex, glad you finally woke up."
"Yeah, umm. I think Laurens may have been kidnapped or murdered?" Alexander said in a hoarse, scared tone.
"What? I know we haven't been able to find him, but we shouldn't assume the..." Washington was cut off.
"No, the news. Just come home, we need to contact the police again!" Alexander yelled before hanging up.
Washington turned the car around. He had no idea what Alexander was talking about, but he could tell something was wrong.
"Why are you turning back?" Lafayette asked, completely oblivious to what just happened.
"Alexander is worried about something on the news. Can you look it up?" Washington asked.
Lafayette pulled out his phone and looked up the latest news articles.
"How will I know when I see it?" Lafayette asked. "Nevermind." He began to panic.
"What is it?" Washington stopped at a red light and Lafayette showed him the story. "Get my phone out and dial 911! Dont lose that article!"
Eliza walked into Peggy's room. She didn't know how to do this. How do you tell someone that their true love could be in danger, or dead? She opened the door to see her sister reading a book.
"Pegs? Can we talk?" Eliza whimpered.
"Yeah, what's wrong?" Peggy asked.
"Laurens' father just broke out of prison, and John's missing."
Eliza watched as her sister's expression changed from one of joy, to fear, to sadness. Peggy started crying, hoping for the best, but still having that one thought. What if he's dead?
A/N: NO IM NOT GOING TO KILL HIM. But Peggy doesn't know that ;)
Angelica ran in when she heard the sobs. She saw the news story and went to comfort her sister. The police arrived at the Washington house just after George and Lafayette did.
"We have been trying to track him down, but I'm afraid we don't know where Henry Laurens is. It sadly is possible that he came after John." One of the officers said.
Martha started to cry, Washington held her in his arms. "Do you have any idea of where he is?" Washington asked."Well... the boy went missing 28 hours ago, so he could be anywhere in the upper eastern half of America by now." The officer put his head down.
Alexander wasn't supposed to be listening, he was taking this whole thing really hard and the Washingtons didn't want to make it harder on him until the theory was confirmed. But he eavesdropped anyway.
"You ok mon ami?" Lafayette joined him.
"The police said he could be anywhere you can get to in 28 hours. Not to mention the fact that he could be dead." Alexander sighed. He had guilt. He was supposed to walk home with Laurens that day, but he borrowed Eliza's car so he could go see Maria.
"He's tuff. He'll be alright." Lafayette replied, he had no idea if it would be true. But his father almost killed him many times before, and even without being taken to the hospital, five year old Laurens lived.
The next morning, Peggy went to school. She tried to convince herself not to, but thought it would be a good way to take her mind off of the whole thing. She knew that's what Laurens would've wanted.
Peggy walked down the hallway as people whispered around her.
"Oh my gosh, did you hear about John?"
"Poor Peggy."
"Do you think she'll move on if they find his body?"
She cringed, but kept walking. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all. It didn't bother Peggy too much until James Madison came strolling down.
"Hey Schuyler. Did they find him yet?" He said in a mocking manner.
"Leave me alone!"
"Its a shame. It's a real shame. I always liked him the best. Too bad he had to eat it." James laughed like it was a joke. "I always knew that one of the Washington kids would end up on a milk carton."
A/N: if you don't get that, people used to put pictures of missing kids on milk cartons to spread the word.Peggy had enough. She cocked her fist and prepared for detention. Before she knew it, Madison was on the ground and she repetitively punched him in the face until he was covered in blood.
"PEGGY!" Eliza ran over and pulled her sister off. "What the he..."
"I'm sorry Eliza, but I can't do this!" She ran out of the building.
