A/N: I'm not a doctor, so forgive me if some of this stuff is wrong. Mostly just FLUFF!
It was a pretty gloomy day. Nobody wants to spend a holiday in the hospital, but they didn't really have a choice. The doctors kept Laurens over night. They wanted to make sure no injuries got infected. He would be released the next day if everything went well.
"Eliza?" Alexander asked when he saw her in the hall.
"Happy Thanksgiving! I know that this isn't that great a day but, I wanted to try and cheer you up." Eliza smiled.
"Tell that to Laurens. They have to draw blood later today so he can't eat for awhile. On Thanksgiving." Alexander sighed.
"Eek, that sucks." Eliza replied.
"Yeah."
"Maybe a Ms. Margaret Schuyler would cheer him up?"
"No, he said he doesn't want her to see him in the hospital. He's really sensitive about hospitals in general." Alexander explained.
"Ok, let me know if you guys need anything." Eliza gave him a kiss before leaving.
Alexander went back into the hospital room.
"Alexander?" Lafayette pulled him back out of the room."I'm going to the cafeteria. You coming?"
"Sure." They walked down to the cafeteria. Lafayette got french fries. He said that they suited him. Alex just got a burger.
"Some Thanksgiving, huh?" Laf asked.
"Yeah, but I guess it's not so bad, we didn't even celebrate Thanksgiving for the first part of our lives. I mean, what if we were in Laurens' shoes?" Alexander said taking a bite of his burger.
"Good point." Laf answered. "Poor kid, can't even eat on America's national eating day."
"He'll be able to eat later." Alex pointed out.
"Hopefully. Not if they do more tests."
"I don't understand why they have to do so many tests. He's injured, not sick." Alexander stated.
"I'm sure they have their reasons."
Alexander finished his burger and Lafayette got a to go box for his fries. They went back up to Laurens' hospital room. The nurse was in there as well. She was taking his blood now so that he could finally eat.
"Hey." Alexander said as he walked in.
"Hello, how was your lunch?" Martha asked, giving them each a hug.
"Good, how you guys holding up?" He looked over at John.
"Better. He's still not doing too great though. They said nothing is infected but that he need's to take it easy." Martha explained.
"Ok." Alexander went over and flopped down on the other bed next to Laurens'. Lafayette followed, sitting in the chair next to him.
"Alright." The nurse began. "You are good to eat."
"Finally." Laurens sighed. "I haven't eaten since yesterday morning."
"I'll go grab you something." Washington left the room.
"So... just out of curiosity, what do you guys actually do for Thanksgiving?" Laurens wondered.
"What are you talking about? We always spend the day in the hospital." Alexander joked, earning a shove from Lafayette.
"Well, since we're not actually American, we don't do too much. Mainly whatever the Washingtons have planned." Lafayette explained. "That usually includes dinner, movie, Black Friday."
"Sorry for ruining your day." John sighed.
"No sweetie, you didn't ruin anything." Martha soothed him. "It's just a slight change in plans. I'm sure the boys and I could still go shopping later, but they never stay too long anyway."
"Why not?" Laurens asked.
"That's when I do my best Christmas shopping. They usually go do something else." Martha smiled. Laurens felt better, it made him feel less uncomfortable. He never celebrated Thanksgiving more than a few times. A lot of the time his foster parents would either not have one, or wouldn't let him be apart of it. His father never celebrated either.
"Maybe next year?" Laurens asked.
"Of course." Martha reassured him. "Get some rest honey."
Laurens laid down and relaxed, his body ached from every limb. The last week had not been kind to him.
Washington came back a few minutes later with some pizza and a Pepsi. "Here you are." He also got a salad for Martha.
"Thanks." Laurens grabbed the plate and shoved the pizza in his mouth.
"You need anything else let me know." Washington said, then went to sit down.
"Ok." John smiled. He ate the whole thing in about a minute, then turned and laid back down to go to sleep.
"Alright. You ready?" Martha asked in the car. She, Alexander, and Lafayette were going to go Black Friday shopping.
"Yeah." They both answered.
"Good, let's get going." She pulled out of the hospital parking lot and began heading for the mall.
Lafayette and Alexander made their way to the GameStop. Alexander got mad and accidentally broke a remote, so they needed a new one."Meet me at the car in two and a half hours." Martha yelled at them as they walked away.
"Got it." Alexander yelled back. They headed into the GameStop and were crowded by other kids trying to get games at a fraction of the price.
"Jeez, how are we supposed to move in here?" Lafayette asked.
"I don't know. You go left, I'll go right and we can see if one of us can reach the back." Alexander suggested.
"Ok." Laf replied.
It took them awhile, but they finally got everything they wanted. Plus a few extra games that were half off. They purchased everything after waiting in line for about thirty minutes. They still had about an hour and a half though.
"Hey, can I go to that one shop where they sell those perfumes?" Alexander asked. "Eliza loves it and it would make a great Christmas present."
"Sure but, I don't know where it is." Laf answered.
"Neither do I. I only know it's at this mall." Alexander sighed.
"Great." They decided to walk around until they came to the right store.
"Perfect." Alexander went inside and bought Eliza her favorite perfume.
"I'm ready to go." Alexander smiled. "She's going to love me even more now."
" I still don't know how." Lafayette laughed. They went to a few more stores before meeting Martha at the car. She already arrived and had put all the things in the trunk.
"Put your stuff in the backseat." She warned them. "You don't get to know what's in there for another month."
They all laughed, got into the car, and drove home.
