Halloween was just around the corner. Eliza didn't tell Alexander she and Jefferson kissed. How could she? She felt it eating her up inside, like a dark hole in her chest. She hated secrets. Eliza didn't want to tell him. One, he would be upset she waited so long to tell him, two, he would try to kill Jefferson, and their wars never ended well.
"Hey babe." Eliza smiled putting on her best face. "Did you get it?"
"Yes. I still can't believe you're making me do this." Alexander was upset. "Paris. Really?"
"You will look great." She smiled.
Halloween was the next day, and everyone was very excited. The Schuylers had a Halloween party every year, but this year was different. Eliza had finally found true love.
After school, Alexander asked Eliza if she wanted to grab something to eat, or go see a movie.
"Sure."
They went to a small cafe Eliza's friend worked at and sat down.
"Hey Liza. Who's this hot shot?" The young lady asked looking over at Alexander.
"This is my boyfriend Alexander. Alexander this is Maria Lewis. Her mom owns this cafe and she works here part time." Eliza introduced them.
"Hello." Alex greeted her.
"Hi. What can I get you two?" Maria smiled.
"My usual, I'm sure Alexander would like it too." Eliza ordered.
"Sure." Alexander agreed, they liked most of the same stuff. He would probably like whatever Maria brought back.
"Ok," Maria left them.
"So, how long have you been coming here?" Alexander asked.
"Oh for years." Eliza smiled. "I love this place."
"So how come you waited so long to tell me this place existed?"
"I don't know. I told you now." She laughed.
Maria came back over with two extra cocoa, sprinkled with cinnamon, hot chocolate cups, with whipped cream.
"This is the best thing you'll ever taste." Maria winked at Alexander.
He smiled. "Thank you." He took a small sip and immediately believed her. "Wow."
Eliza started laughing. "Told ya."
After the date, Eliza went home and she and her sisters prepared for the party the next day.
Halloween.
The school day started like any normal day, the only difference would be what happened that night.
"So, are you inviting everyone in school to the party?" Alexander asked.
Eliza already knew what he was asking. "Yes, Jefferson is coming."
"Why?"
"I always invite everyone. Plus my father is good friends with his, I kind of have to."
Alexander was a little upset, but he wasn't going to let this ruin his night. If anything he could just show off how happy he and his girlfriend were and how lonely Thomas was.
After school, everybody burst out of their classes and out the doors. Within seconds, the school was empty. Washington didn't stay late that day. All the teachers went home when school ended on holidays such like this one.
He drove the boys home and they went inside to get ready for the party at the Schuylers.
"Hurry up!" Alexander yelled into the bathroom. "You take too long to shower."
