A/N: Sorry about this. I promise it has a semi sweet end. Warning: blood, fighting, abuse, alcohol. And a whole lot of it.

It was about 8:00am. One day had passed since Laurens arrived. Alexander and Eliza brought him food to fill the fridge. Alexander and Eliza we're currently at school. John Laurens was still hiding at the Schuyler's house that they rented out in the summer. His father was after him, and he needed to lay low. A man across the street had been walking his dog, when he relieved their was something in the house. He took his dog inside his house and went outside to get a better look. There was definitely a person in that house. The man walked up closer to the house, and saw Laurens. He ran back to his own house and got a gun. (I promise this isn't what it looks like.) He ran back to the other house and broke down the door.

"Hands up you little brat." He said when he saw Laurens on the couch. "I'm calling the police kid."

"Please don't. I know the owners of this house they're..." John was interrupted.

"Nice try. Mr. Schuyler would never let a kid stay here for free, and you wouldn't have the money to pay him. You're probably a run away. Now I'm calling the police." The man yelled at him.

"I promise, I'll leave. Just please don't call the police." Laurens pleaded.

"You made your bed, now you're going to lay in it." The man pulled out his phone and dialed the cops. They arrived shortly.

"Please I can explain. I know the Schuylers. Elizabeth knows I'm here." Laurens told the officer.

"What's your name?" The cop asked.

"John Laurens." He said nervously.

"Ah, I see. I got a call the other night saying that a boy about your age ran away, responding to the name of John Laurens."

John panicked. He thought about just bolting out of there until he could find Eliza and Alexander. But the officer grabbed his arm.

"I won't arrest you, but I will be taking you home." The officer said, opening the door of his car.
Laurens didn't fight it and just got in the back seat. When they arrived at the apartment building, the officer walked Laurens up to the apartment.

"Please, don't make me go back." Laurens begged the officer. "He hates me, he's a bad person."

"I thought the same thing when I was your age. But your father is doing his best to take care of you, and just because your life isn't perfect doesn't mean you should run away." The cop ignored what he was really trying to tell him.
When they got to the door, Rachel opened it first.

"Jacky, oh my gosh!" She gave a fake gasp. "Henry!"

Henry ran over to him. "Jack!" He pulled him into a hug. "I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have yelled at you like that." Henry pulled him in tighter to get a good grip on his arm. "Thank you Officer, for bringing my boy home."

Laurens rolled his eyes. Henry noticed and tightened the grip on his arm.

"You're welcome." The cop turned to leave.

As soon as he was down the hall, Henry exploded.

"WHAT THE H*LL IS THE MATTER WITH YOU?!?!?!" Henry screamed at him.

Laurens stayed silent. He knew his father would be mad if he didn't answer, but he would be even more mad if he 'talked back' to him.

"I try and supply a nice apartment and send you to school everyday so you could get an education, and this is how you thank me?!?!?"

"Nice? This place is dirty and constantly reeks of beer!" Laurens yelled back.

Henry didn't hesitate to punch him in the face.
