Warning: attempted murder, ish, violence and angst galore. Nothing graphic, I don't like to describe gory things.
Alexander and Lafayette snuck out of the house when Martha wasn't paying attention. They met at the park and discussed what they knew. Will and the two Schuyler sisters met them there.
"Who's this guy?" Eliza asked.
"A friend." Alexander answered. "He's a glorified intern."
"Cadet! Which is a police officer." Will corrected.
"Whatever. This is where Laurens' father's car disappeared. We checked all of the other street cameras. None of them show a match leaving. So he has to still be in this small part of the city." Alexander continued. Pointing at a map to show all the locations.
"How much time do we have?" Peggy asked.
"About two hours." Lafayette answered.
"We need to break up into groups to cover more ground. Lafayette and Peggy. Eliza and Will. I'll go by myself." Alexander said.
"Alex, I'm coming with you." Eliza protested.
"Will can keep you safe better than I can." Alexander grabbed her hand. "I'll be fine, I promise."
A/N: Don't make promises you can't keep. 😈"Ok, well we should get started." Lafayette stated. "Peggy?"
They all broke off into their groups and their search for Laurens continued.
"Anything?" Alexander called Will. They made sure to stay in touch with each other every 15 minutes or so, and if they didn't answer, they were to call the police right away and track their phone.
"No." Will sighed. "You?"
"If I found him, why would I ask if you found anything?" Alexander questioned.
"I don't know. I'm just being polite I guess." Will stated.
"Whatever." Alexander rolled his eyes, but Will couldn't see that. "Call Laf and Peggy."
"Ok, bye." Will hung up and dialed the number Alexander gave him before they all left. "Hello?" He made sure he had the right number. "Laf, did you find anything?"
"No, you?" Lafayette asked.
"Thank you!" Will exclaimed. "Sorry. No we haven't."
"Alright. Bye." Lafayette hung up.
They all continued their search.
Washington came home earlier then usual. That wasn't exactly a good thing though.
"Martha? Where are the boys?"
"I thought they were upstairs, why?" Martha replied.
"Because they're not." Washington sighed.
"Uh oh."
Washington dialed Alexander immediately. Alex and Laf had agreed not to take any calls from Washington while they were out looking. He would just panic and bring them back home. So, of course Alex didn't answer.
"They must've snuck out to look for Laurens. I'll be back." George said as he ran out and jumped in his car. Martha ran out to him and got in as well.
"I'm coming too." Martha stated.
George tried to turn the key in the ignition, but his shaking hands couldn't seem to do so. Martha noticed and tried to calm him.
"What's wrong?" She asked.
"I failed him. I promised to keep him safe and make sure nothing happened to him, but I failed." Washington mumbled.
"You didn't fail him. We'll find Laurens, but right now we need to find Alexander and Lafayette to make sure nothing happens to them." Martha replied.
"I did fail him! I told him I wouldn't let his father hurt him anymore! He's gonna think I lied to him." George stated.
"George, we will find him. Laurens is the sweetest and most understanding kid there is. He won't be mad at you. I'm sure he just wants to come home." Martha reminded him.
"Maybe you're right. But for now, we need to make sure nothing happens to our other kids."
Will received a call from the station. He thought it was weird since this was his day off, but answered it anyway. Eliza tried to make out the conversation by what he was saying.
"Yes?... Good... Ok, I'll make sure... First thing in the morning." He said before hanging up.
"I hope I'm not pressing. But what was that about?" She asked as they walked through a small street. More like a glorified alleyway.
"Well. Good news and bad news. The good news is they caught every escape convict but one. The bad news is it's Laurens' father." Will sighed.
"I guess that makes me feel a little safer." Eliza tried to look on the positive side of things. "I'm sure we'll find him, we just need to look in some of these buildings."
Will nodded and they continued their search.
Alexander had been walking down a path next to multiple old buildings. There was a hotel that never opened, and many abandoned homes. Where's a better place to hide a hostage? Nevermind, that's not a good thing.
He continued walking, careful of his surroundings. He heard a noise come from one of the buildings. Like breaking glass. The building was small, only two stories. It looked abandoned, maybe not. Alexander ran over to the building and tried to find a way in.Henry panicked. He shouldn't have been so careless as to where he left his beer bottles. Too bad one fell off the counter and shattered. Henry grabbed a gun and a knife. Laurens couldn't see Alexander since there were no windows in the small upstairs room.
"What's the gun for?"
"To protect my son."
"I'm not your son! You lost that right a long time ago!" Laurens protested.
"And yet, here we are." Henry walked over to him. They both heard the sound of wood breaking. Alexander found a way in.
"Someone's here." Laurens exclaimed. He tried to scream but his father covered his mouth. Henry loosened Laurens' school uniform tie and pulled it around his mouth as a gag before tightening it again. "Mmmh!"
"You say one word." Henry held his knife up. "And I slit your throat!"
John nodded, terrified.
Alexander walked around downstairs.
He tried to be as silent as possible just in case Henry was around. Which he was. He noticed that everything inside was old, dirty, and broken. Except for the new piece of wood on the staircase."Bingo!" He whispered to himself. He carefully trudged up the stairs as quietly as possible. Alexander reached his hand out and opened the door, shocked when Henry grabbed him.
"What the he...mmh." Alexander tried to figure out what was happening as Henry covered his mouth and shoved him up against the wall. Even though he came out here looking for his friend, he didnt really expect to find him. Not like this anyway. "Mmh."
Laurens noticed what was happening from across the room and tried to get free. He thought all hope was lost until.... crack! The chair leg broke.
Henry grabbed the gun from his jacket, but Alexander kicked it across the floor. "You little brat! You don't know when to quit." He pulled out the knife and held it to Alexander's throat. "I've wanted to do this for a long time!" Alexander tried to pull away. But he couldn't. He fought trying to get the knife away from his neck. He tried to get Henry's hand off his mouth to scream. But then...
*bang*
Alexander was shocked when Henry fell to the floor, blood dripped from his back. He looked up to see Laurens. His father's gun in his hands. The same gun Alexander had kicked away from Henry moments earlier. His tie still in his mouth, and his wrists red from rope burns. Tears forming in his eyes.
"Laurens?"
A/N: Sorry, but the child had to save Alexander some way. I'm still deciding if I want Henry to die or not. On one hand, Laurens wouldn't have to deal with him anymore. On the other, John is a marshmallow and would forever have guilt if he killed someone. Idk, I'll think about it.
