A/N: Super angst. Abuse. Bullying.

It had been a week since John Laurens moved in with his father, and also three days before Thanksgiving. John already hated the school his father made him attend. He tried not to talk to anyone, he went back to being the same kid everyone thought was mute. But that didn't stop teenagers from being jerks and beating him up anyway. John decided to eat lunch out in the courtyard like he used to. He didn't know he was being followed.

"Sup freak." Some boy walked up. "Got any smokes or beer on you?"

Laurens didn't answer.

"Ok, got any cash?"

Laurens again didn't reply, he just kept his head down, not even wanting to make eye contact.

The young man walked over and grabbed his shoulder. Pulling John up to his feet before grabbing a switchblade from his jacket.

"I hear your daddy is a drunk bastard. Guess you are too."

"At least I'm not in my fifth year of high school." Laurens mumbled.

"That's it!" The boy yelled. He pushed the blade against Laurens forehead and blood ran down.

"Ah!"

"Just remember this next time we meet." The young man said. The bell rang and the boy ran inside the building.

Laurens was about to run inside too, but a thought popped into his head.

Run, just run.

He started sprinting as fast as he could away from the school. John ran and ran until his feet gave out, but he still kept running. Finally after hours of constant motion, he pulled out his phone and dialed a number he hadn't called in a while.

"Alex?" His faint voice panicked.

"Laurens? Laurens! Oh my gosh wow. I thought you weren't supposed to keep contact with us? They said that's why you changed schools." Alexander asked.

"No. My father forbade me from seeing any of you." John spoke. The panic rising in his voice.

"Hey you ok?" Alexander noticed how scared he sounded.

"No, I need help. Meet me at the corner of 72st. Alone. Don't tell Washington or anybody." John stated before ending the call.

Alexander jumped into his car immediately. Then Lafayette came out.

"Wait dude, I need to borrow your car. I have a date tonight."

"You can't, if you needed a car you should've saved up and not spent all your money on video games." Alexander turned the key in the ignition.

"That's cold man."

"Take the bus." Alexander yelled as he pulled out of the driveway.

He went all the way to 72st and jumped out. John came around the corner and grabbed him, pulling him into an alley where they could talk in private. He pushed Alexander up against the brick wall. That's when Alex first saw his appearance. He saw blood dripping down his forehead and nose, not to mention a little from his lip. His arms were covered with bruises and his eye was pitch black.

"Oh my gosh." Alexander gasped.

John ignored him. "Did you bring any money?"

"Yeah, my wallet is...." John cut him off.

"Good I'm starving." He began to walk around the corner.

"Hey dude! You can't just pretend like you're ok. What happened to you?" Alexander grabbed his arm and pushed him up against the wall.
