Plot: Seokjin neglects his boyfriend because he doesn't realise he's slipped into his headspace.
Story:
Looking up, Namjoon pouts. All he's wanted to do all day is play with Seokjin, but the elder's been working so has barely acknowledged him. And as much as he wants to just sit and play with him until they fall asleep, the last thing he wants to do is interrupt him.
Huffing, he gets up and wanders off into the spare bedroom, the one they'd decorated to look like a zoo, with stuffed animals of all shapes and sizes and adorable wall decorations.
When they decided to move in together, they looked for a two-bedroom apartment to accommodate for both his little side and his big side, and this place seemed like a dream. Located just outside of Itaewon, Seoul's gay village, it had two bedrooms, lots of space, and plenty of natural light, so was the perfect place for them to settle down.
"Come on, TeeTee, let's defend t'e jungle fwom all t'e evil monsters!" he says enthusiastically, grabbing his tiger plushy. He's grateful he didn't have many people in his life before he met Seokjin, or he might struggle playing alone. Besides, playing on his own means he gets to use all the toys and he gets to make up the rules, and no one can tell him any different.
But there's only so long you can defend the jungle from evil monsters with help from your little tiger friend. After a little while, the brunet finds himself getting bored and cranky, and in a moment of frustration, grabs his tiger and throws it across the room, pouting.
Normally it'd be about time for his nap right now, and his boyfriend would come in and put him to bed, but since he's busy, he has to manage by himself. He's in too much of a bad mood to change into something more comfortable, and he hasn't mastered being able to tuck himself in, so he's left lying beneath the blanket, cold and uncomfortable. And since he's so agitated, he can't get to sleep, causing him to become overtired as he just stares at the wall.
It's times like these when he wishes the elder would come and check on him. But no, he's too busy working. It doesn't matter how many times Seokjin tells him to come and get him if he needs anything, he won't do it. It just makes him feel like he's wasting valuable time, and that makes him feel guilty.
Eventually, he gets bored of trying and failing, so he just goes back to playing. But that doesn't cheer him up, so he tries colouring. But the crayons keep breaking, and it's all a bit too much, as he just breaks down into tears, sniffling and sobbing quietly.
He ends up sleeping alone that night, because Seokjin's fallen asleep on the couch. Is this what it feels like to be forgotten?
The next day...
"K-Kookie,"
"Namjoon-hyung? What's wrong?"
Joon sniffles, hands trembling as he holds the phone up to his ear. "Poppa's bein' a meaniepants! Won't pway wit' me an' won't gimme cuddles!"
"Maybe he's busy,"
"But he been doin' work since yest'day an' nuh do nuffin' wit' Joonie..."
"Does he know you've slipped? Maybe he hasn't realised."
The little shrugs. "Dunno. T'ought he would've come t'check t'ough. Can Kookie an' Seokie come take care of me?"
"I'm sorry, bub, but we're busy. I can try and talk to Poppa though if you'd like."
"Pwease, maybe Poppa gon' wisten to Kookie."
"I'll try."
He hangs up and tucks his phone under his pillow, then lies on his side again. He can hear his boyfriend's ringtone, then the elder's voice as he picks up the phone. And though he can't tell exactly what he's saying, he can make out a few words.
"Baby?"
He sits up and looks at the door, where Jin's standing with a sheepish look about him. The latter walks in silence to the bed and sits beside him, reaching to run his fingers through the boy's soft blue locks. Namjoon lets him, too tired to move, and his throat stinging from all the sobbing and the tears.
"C'mon now, moonchild, don't cry." Seokjin whispers, kissing the top of his head. "Why didn't you come and tell me you'd slipped?"
"C-C-Cause Poppa was workin' a-an' Joonie di'n't wanna distu'b him..."
Jin smiles at him. "You can always come and talk to me, Joonie-ah, no matter what I'm doing. I won't be mad. And if you don't tell me, how am I supposed to know?"
"J-Joonie in twouble now?"
"No, of course not." chuckles the elder, kissing his head again. "Is there anything you want me to do to make you happy again?"
"Hm," the blue-haired pauses, yawning and snuggling into his lover's chest. "Wan' Poppa cuddles."
"Alright, lovely, let's get you changed first, shall we? You're still wearing yesterday's clothes."
"Mhm,"
Soon enough, the younger's had his clothes changed so he's much more comfortable, and is lying in bed, all tucked up underneath the blanket with his caregiver, head buried in the male's chest.
"Feeling any better?" Jin asks in a soft voice.
"Mhm," nods the little. "Poppa got magic cuddles."
"Cuddles can fix everything," the brunet chuckles, pecking his forehead. "And whatever they can't fix, kisses can fix instead."
Joon giggles. "Mm, chu t'e best Poppa eva'!"
"And you're my bestest boy."
