Plot: All Jin wants is to be a singer. But there's this thing called anxiety, so things don't always go to plan.

Story:

Clenching his fists, Seokjin taps his foot on the tiled floor of the waiting room and glances down at the badge on his shirt. It's got the words 'CONTESTANT #179634' printed on it in black letters, as well as the company name and logo in the bottom corner.

He's spent the last four months preparing for this, a chance for him to fulfil his lifelong dream of becoming a singer. And in just 20 minutes, he's set to perform in front of company executives for BigHit Entertainment. True, it's not the biggest nor the most well-known company - he easily could've gone for JYP or YG - but there's a special reason why he's here.

About a year ago, he met someone when he was visiting Seoul for his cousin's birthday. He thought the guy was cool so gave him his number, and just as he was getting ready to leave, he finally received a phone call from him. They got talking, then started dating after a couple of months. It just so happens that, when they started dating, Namjoon - the kind-smiled, dimpled, nature-loving man he'd met at the train station - had just made his debut as a rapper under BigHit, and he was able to pull some strings to get Jin an audition.

He's never been this nervous before. He's performed so many times, singing and acting, yet this time - with the smallest audience he's had - is the time that's made him feel the most uneasy. He only just managed to eat breakfast this morning since he felt so sick, and he's been sipping cold water all morning to try and settle his churning stomach, yet nothing's worked. Well, nothing physical. From the moment he woke up, right up until now, he's been getting text messages from his boyfriend every half hour, things like "You're gonna do great" and "I believe in you babe", and that's all he's had to help him.

15 minutes now. Seokjin takes a deep breath and removes his phone from his pocket, smiling a little as he checks the time. Another text comes through promptly, this one just the word 'Confidence' with a heart emoji next to it.

Soon enough, it's time. He hears his number called, then heads on through to the audition hall, where three men are sat. The audition itself passes by in a blur, his mind so full of thoughts that he can't remember it once it's over. All he knows is that he tried his best, and that's all anyone can ask of him.

After all the auditions have ended, it's time for callbacks. Thankfully, he finds himself among those chosen, so has to go back to face the three company officials a second time.

"Contestant 179634," says one of them, catching his attention. The man looks him up and down for a minute or two, examining him, before continuing. "I'm sorry, but for now, this is the end of the road for you. You've got a good voice, but it's not great, and you clearly need some physical training. Some form of movement would be appreciated. Also, one of the requirements for a contract is that you can produce music; we need to see that."

"I see..." Jin nods, keeping his head up to try and mask his disappointment. "Thank you for the opportunity."

That night...

Head buried in his pillow, Jin sighs. He hasn't moved since he got back to his hotel room, when he threw himself down on his bed. He's given up now; there's no hope for him.

A knock at the door startles him slightly, yet he regains his composure and drags himself to his feet, having no hurry to answer it. Once he does, he sees his boyfriend standing in the narrow hallway, a bouquet of flowers in one hand.
