Plot: Another year ends, everyone's a bit older and a bit wiser. And with the end of a year comes Taehyung's birthday, December 30th. Little does he know, his husband has spent a lot of time planning for this particular night, in order to make it as special and as memorable as possible.
Story:
Taehyung's POV
Turning off the ignition, I give a sigh and rest my forehead against the steering wheel. Today's been hectic, and the last thing I want to do is have to go inside and cook. My husband's working late tonight so he won't be home for a few hours, meaning it's up to me to make dinner. I could just order something in, but that would mean sitting through a lecture about healthy eating from Seokjin when he comes home, since we ordered Chinese food last week and he's not keen on eating too much junk food.
All I wanted was for today to be nice and relaxed. Is that so much to ask for? It's the end of the year, after all, as well as my birthday. Not a single person has wished me happy birthday, which I don't mind, but it'd be nice if they'd just acknowledged it. But no, it had to be the busiest day of the year so far, just trying to get on top of everything and make sure everything's done before we enter a new annum.
Audibly exhaling, I drag my aching body out of the car and into the house. Once I'm inside, my nostrils are instantly filled with the familiar aroma of sesame oil and stir-fried vegetables - it reminds me of my childhood. And there's only one person who knows that...
"Hey," a voice says, and a pair of arms wrap tightly around me from behind.
"I thought you had to work late," I mumble, unenthused.
"I did, but I told my boss what today was and she let me go early."
"Wow," I roll my eyes. "I wonder what makes today so special then."
"Sounds like someone had a bad day at work, huh?" he turns me around so we're facing one another, resting both hands on my waist, and pulls me closer to him. "Good thing I planned something nice tonight."
"As much as I love our yearly tradition of ordering takeout and having sex on the couch," I give a sigh, yet the corners of my lips turn upwards slightly. "It's been a long day and I really don't have the energy."
Jin kisses my forehead. "Well I kinda thought you might not, so I planned something else. I cooked some japchae with some beef and pork strips - we can either eat it now or save it for later - take a bath together, maybe watch something on TV if anything good's on, and then we can just go to bed. Sound good?"
Hearing the change to our normal plan makes me feel a little better. "That actually sounds kinda nice."
"C'mon then, what do you wanna do first?"
"Bath first?"
He kisses me again, this time on the cheek. "Of course, buttercup."
I don't get to say anything else before he picks me up, my legs hooked over his arm as he carries me to the bathroom and sits me on the closed lid of the toilet. The bath's already been run and is full of baby-pink bubbles, and he starts to undress me slowly and carefully.
"I love you," he whispers. "I know I don't say it a lot, but I really do."
"I know," I smile and he pecks my lips. "I mean, you married me. That has to mean something."
"I guess so, huh?"
Later that night...
