About two weeks after the Stone Wars ended, Y/n had almost completely recovered. Though she was still a little weak, and very behind on her training, she could travel around the former Tsukasa Empire on her own for longer periods of time. Despite this, she still chose to stay in her little hut most of the time, enjoying the feeling of having a home once more.

For the time being, she was happy.

Though she was now at ease, her mind started buzzing about things that previously didn't matter quite as much. The foggy memories which had resurfaced being the main topic. Who would always be on her side? Who was so determined at the time? Who were they?

As much as Y/n would've liked to write it off as something unimportant, her mind wouldn't stop pestering her about it. And no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't remember. The most that came to mind was the voice of a young boy, likely from her childhood.

These same thoughts were running through her mind as she tried to focus on jotting down new story ideas, distracting her until she heard a knock on the door of her hut. Closing her notebook and setting it aside, she got up from her desk to open the door. Chrome was waiting there, a rather somber smile on his face.

"Hey, Y/n. They're about to freeze him, and he wants you there if you're okay with it."

Y/n knew what Chrome was talking about. Senku had already told her. Everyone already knew Tsukasa wouldn't survive, in fact, it was a miracle he had even lasted two weeks. Y/n had been shocked when Senku gave her the news that they were going to try and freeze Tsukasa to death to give them more time to find the petrification weapon, which, in theory, would save Tsukasa.

She couldn't help but be skeptical of the whole thing. If they petrified Tsukasa's corpse, wouldn't he just revive as a corpse? She knew that revival had healing properties, but realistically, it wouldn't work on a dead body, right?

Either way, she wasn't sure whether she could face Tsukasa again, even if he was a friend. He had saved both her and Mirai, and the fact that Y/n had despised him for so long made her feel awful. Even so, she couldn't refuse his dying wish.

"Of course," Y/n replied, nodding without hesitation. "I can't exactly refuse, can I?"

"I guess not," Chrome sighed as Y/n slipped her boots on. "But I'm sure it won't be all that bad?"

"Heh, you don't have to try and comfort me," Y/n smiled. "I'm alright."

Chrome nodded, and the two of them walked to what was Tsukasa's throne room, as Y/n thought of it. Inside, only Senku and Tsukasa were there, Senku fiddling with the refrigerator, preparing it so that it would freeze Tsukasa.

The tall man was lying inside the open refrigerator already, and Y/n couldn't help but be reminded of a casket, which Tsukasa would rest in forever. Chrome greeted Senku and bid a short goodbye to Y/n before leaving, and Y/n approached Tsukasa, almost nervously.

Upon closer inspection, she could see that Tsukasa was pale and in a cold sweat, looking exhausted and drained. If not for his chest heaving up and down raggedly, Y/n would've thought he were dead. Y/n bit her lip to ignore the growing lump in her throat. Death wasn't unfamiliar to her, but it never failed to make her lose her composure.

"Y/n," Tsukasa smiled weakly. "I'm a little surprised, I wasn't sure you'd actually come."

"Well, I'm not that heartless, y'know," Y/n felt a little more at ease, sitting down on the edge of the fridge. It was cold. "You were a friend before, and you're a friend again, even if we fought a war against you."

"Heh, I suppose you're right.."

"So, um..." Y/n trailed off awkwardly. "Was there anything you wanted to tell me? I mean, I'm guessing that's why you wanted me here, right?"
