The voices came back slowly, as if underwater. Everything was a blur of colors, a cacophony of insignificant noise. She opened her eyes, and both her hearing and sight came into focus. She saw Senku and Kinrou standing over her, both looking concerned. Y/n immediately felt pain in her jaw. Everything hurt, and her head was pounding. It was too much for her, and tears started rolling down her face.

"Y/n! You're awa— Wait, there's no need to cry! You did very well, all things considered!" Kinrou exclaimed, worry written all over him. Senku looked at him.

"She's in a lot of pain, stupid. We don't have painkillers, so she's just gonna have to rest it off. Thankfully, that big ogre didn't break any of her bones."

Y/n tired to form words, but her jaw hurt whenever she tried to move it. She choked out a sob, trying to sit up. Neither of the boys tried to stop her, but her headache grew several times worse as soon as she did. Wiping her eyes, she looked in between the legs of the villagers to see what was happening. Chrome was fighting who Y/n recognized as one of Magma's lackeys, Mantle.

Y/n looked back at  and Senku, who had been trying to patch up some scrapes on her arms. She leaned her head on Senku's shoulder, who was the closest. Senku sighed.

"Y/n, I'm trying to get a scrape on your shoulder. Move."

"Don't be so harsh, Senku! You just said she's in pain!"

"She'll be in much more pain if she gets an infection," Senku snapped back. Y/n sighed, sitting up on her own so Senku could finish with her shoulder. As soon as he was done, she leaned on him again, much to his protest. She managed to force one word out before wincing from her jaw.

"Please."

Senku sighed and stayed put, watching as Ginrou approached them, his cheeks stuffed with something. Somehow, he could still speak. Y/n didn't want to think at the moment though, it hurt.

"Y/n's awake!" Ginrou exclaimed, sitting down next to her. "Aw, do you want to lean on me?"

She took her better arm and hit him on the head with her fist, making him yelp.

"Ow! Okay geez, keep lying on your genius boyfriend then..."

Needless to say, Ginrou would end up with more injuries from Y/n than his actual opponent. Pretty soon, noise from the crowd was heard, making Y/n's head spin. Senku sighed and pushed her off, standing up. She made a little noise in protest, but couldn't do anything. Now that she thought about it, it was Senku and Kohaku's turn to fight... except she was nowhere to be seen. She looked at Kinrou with confusion.

"Ah... Mantle might have thrown Suika into the river, so Kohaku went to go find her and make sure she was safe," he quickly explained. "However, she turned out to be completely fine. She's watching over there, in fact... we just have to hope Kohaku will be back now."

Y/n looked at the crowd, where Chrome stood victorious. She made a mental note to murder Mantle once she felt better. Chrome jogged over to them, face lighting up once he saw that Y/n was awake.

"Y/n! You're awake! Oh god... where's Kohaku?"

"She hasn't come back," Kinrou announced. Chrome cursed as Jasper spoke to the crowd.

"Due to the absence of Kohaku, Senku wins the third match!"

"Nnngh," Y/n protested, both out of frustration and pain. She lied back down on the ground, wanting the pounding in her head to stop. If Magma won and she went through all that pain for nothing, she would make sure he had a nice, slow death.

"How's the historian doing?" Senku asked, having walked back over and Ginrou went to fight his match.

"Bad," She croaked. She tried to move her jaw as little as possible as she spoke, resulting in very slurred, mumbly speech. The pain was slowly starting to fade into a dull throb. "Do you have anything for headaches? 'Cause my head's pounding like a motherfu—"
