Chapter 34

One year later...

"Congratulations, graduates!"

"Congrats, Wayve!" Finn shrieked and hugged me. Natawa ako.

"Thanks, Finn, congrats din!" sagot ko na lang.

I greeted my other blockmates, too. Mga nag- iiyakan pa ang iba sa kanila habang nagyayakapan. Napailing ako. Well, it's a happy day. We're finally off college. No more quizzes to take and lab to pass.

I still can't believe it. Graduate na ako at liscensed Medical Technology na rin. Wow. Just wow. Last school year has been terrible, lalo na sa mga nangyari sa pamilya namin. Thankfully, my last year in college turned okay. My whole fourth year life revolved around school works, NMAT and Board Exam. Luckily, I was able to pass both. And here I am, finally taking my last walk in college.

Sobrang thankful ko lang na walang dramang nangyari sa last year ko sa college.

"Everyone, proceed to the field!" Halos magsigawan ang mga blockmates ko nang marinig iyon. Natatawang sumunod ako sa kanila palabas ng auditorium.

Tradition sa campus na sabay ng graduation lahat ng colleges, but different auidtoriums. Ang finale sa gitna ng pinakamalaking field sa campus. All the college graduates will be there for the traditional paghagis ng toga.

We all gathered according to our degree programs and colleges. The college Deans and university president as well as the board of directors (which is sina papa) are on the center of the field.

There was countdown then sabay naming inihagis iyong mga toga hat.

"Congratulations, graduates!"

Napuno ng hiyawan at iyakan ang field.

"Congrats, Wayve!" Mabilis akong lumingon nang marinig ang matinis na boses ni Airen.

Natawa pa ako nang sabay sila ni Rose na tumakbo at yumakap sa amin. Lumapit na rin sina Ate Nia at Mina then sina Helios at Ced, na kasabay ko ring nag-graduate.

"Congrats, Hell!" I smiled widely and hugged Helios. I heard him laugh and tousled my hair.

"Congrats to us." Sabay naming nilingon si Ced na nagmomoment at si Airen.

"Congrats, Misa Med Tech." I heard Helios said I rolled my eyes. He just laughed at me.

"I guess, doc ka na sa susunod." Umirap ulit ako.

"Hopefully. But don't be too advance, baka mabati!" Sinamaan ko siya ng tingin. Tumawa lang ulit ang loko.

"Wait, picture tayo! Come on!" Rose shouted. Agad naman kaming nag-pose.

We took a lot of photos. May isang kaming mga graduates, then with them, tapos may girls and boys din. Basta kung anong maisipan ni Airen.

Pati nga picture na nagki-kiss sila ni Ced sa harap ng namin. Gosh.

"Jusko ang kalat mo, Airen Lee!" Mina shouted. We all laughed and shook our head.

Napangiti na lang ako habang nakatingin sa lovebirds na naglalampungan. It's just nice to see them still together after all these years. They're one lucky couple.

I sighed and immediately turned my gaze away. I bit my lip. Damn, Wayve. It's been a year.

I took a deep breath again to calm myself. Nag-angat ako ng tingin pero agad din akong natigilan nang makasalubong ko ang pamilyar na matang iyon.

Hindi ako nakagalaw. For a second, I felt like my body was nailed on the ground. I swallowed hard.

Those eyes. I used to feel those butterflies in my stomach because of those pairs. But now, all I could feel is the tightening of my chest.
