Part 53 Pointless Patience

Luz and Lilith walked to the lake.

Luz- This is really difficult my vision is all weird everything looks so far away.

Lilith- Like I said you should of thought about that before.

Luz looked down and slowed her speed a bit I know you are not going to forgive me until I do this challenge thing, are you?

Lilith- The 'challenge thing' as you put it is for your own benefit and well I am not the one who needed to forgive you it was Amity.

Luz- But you seemed to annoyed I know I it was late at night bu-

Lilith- It's not about that! I have been living at the house with you and Eda for months now we've all been training harder than ever and for all of our efforts to be thrown away that easily, for you to possible die it was a scary thought.

Luz- I-Im... Sorry.

Lilith- There's no need for that now, what's done is done we can't change the past even when we really want to... And even I wasn't all that patient when I was younger.

Luz- What do you mean.. Oh.. Oh yeah that whole curse thing..

Dismissively Lilith nodded.

Lilith- Were here.

There was a cooler section of not so 'boiling' Isles water.

Lilith walked closer and closer to the water and then stopped.

Luz- Um is this part of the training, what are you going to do.

Before Luz knew it Lilith had stepped out on to the water and was perfectly balanced.

Luz- How on earth are you doing that.

Lilith- That's the point we aren't on Earth and I am using magic to balance my energy this takes time and effort Edalyn managed this in 6 hours.

Luz- And how long did it take you if you don't mind me asking.

Lilith's face turned pink.

Lilith- Um well um it took me a few months.. But that's the point patience is key.

Luz walked slowly towards the body of water it was practically black and incredibly deep her love and fear of the unknown was both pushing her forwards and backwards.

Luz- I don't think I can do this.

Lilith- You can't do it yet but you will soon and we have all day if you are going home soon you should at least have gotten a proper lesson out of your time here.

Luz walked edging her way towards the almost tar like substance.

Luz- So.. If I fall in that will I be stuck forever or..

Lilith- If you fall into it you will try your best to get out and do it again until you have mastered the technique and therefore learned patience.

Luz- How is this any less dangerous that equivalent exchange.

Lilith- This is Controlled risk, Like how I trained Amity.

Luz Sighed and whispered slightly under her breath.

Luz- And look how that turned out.

Lilith's face was entirely red she was absolutely fuming.

Lilith- excuse me!?

Luz - I said nothing! I'm sorry I am getting right to work.

And with that Luz had taken off her shoes and tried to find her balance on the water many times she had tried and failed hours passed and she was still no closer to regaining control.

Lilith- Stop stop! this is terrible you aren't even really trying at this point you are just jumping onto the water and expecting it to fall to your command, what do you think you are a master of the elements? Of water specifically?

Luz- I am trying.. But it's water and  I'm forbidden to use magic and even if I could how am I going to use glyphs to help me...

Luz slicked her hair back took off her jacket and walked straight to the water.

Luz stopped for a second and ended what felt like a cycle of mistakes. She deeply inspected the water,

Luz- There must be a non-magical solution to this you know I was told by Eda to not use magic.

Lilith- exactly so just think about it.

Luz- It's really suspicious you know you haven't really moved from that general area all this time.

Lilith- and?

Luz- could you go back onto the land please?

Lilith did as Luz asked.

This time she tried a very different method.

Luz Walked slowly onto the water remembering Lilith's every footstep before she had stepped back onto the ground.

And it was then that she had finally learned at least a bit of patience.

Luz- Why would you trick me like that? This was atleast 5 hours worth of standing around.

Lilith bursted into laughter.

Lilith- I wanted to teach you patience and you learned it. This is exactly what Eda did to me when we were younger. She said that she was just somehow able to walk on water and for months I tried to walk on water I came here every day, Oh I was furious when I realised she was just standing on slightly raised land.

Luz was silently annoyed the time she had on the Isles, With Amity was being cut short every moment.

Lilith- I should try pranking more often Eda does it all the time and and it never gets old.

Luz- I've got to admit it I kinda deserve it but can we get home now I wanna spend the rest of my time with Amity and maybe even Gus Willow and the twins.
