The PTA Disaster

My friend FighterOfDepression helped me come up with this idea!

I seriously hate Geno sometimes. It was his stupid idea to join the PTA. As if I wasn't busy enough already. It did seem to make Jessie happy though...

"Fresh please tell me you haven't been spaced out for this whole meeting... " Geno sighed.

I gave a sheepish smile. "I haven't been spaced out for this whole meeting."

He gave an unamused look. "Very funny. I'll make you a copy of my notes later."

"Thanks Geno. You're the best brother." I flashed a smile.

"Careful saying that around Error." He chuckled grabbing his bag.

"Why? He agrees with me." I stood and popped my back. "Remind me to ask for better chairs next meeting."

   He snorted. "Uh huh. Sure."

The intercom scratched. "Code black." There was a gunshot and a scream.

Geno and I shared one look. We both had the same thought. The kids.

He took off first. "Morang is at recess!!!"

"Jessie is down this hall. " My sneakers squeaked as I turned around the corner.

"Help!" Came the small cry. There was a little boy tucked under the water fountain. "I-I was in the bathroom. What does Code Black mean!?"

Geno and I shared another look. Geno kneeled down to the kids level. "We gotta get you into a classroom."

   There was a click. "No."

Everything happened so fast. I turned on my heels. There was a gun pointed at my face. His finger headed towards the tigger.

Then I was on the ground. There was a scream. The little boy. I looked up.

Geno stared down at his chest where red was pooling. He looked back up. He opened his mouth to speak and then crumpled to his knees.

Geno. He hurt Geno. I snapped my head to stare at the shooter. He looked barely out of school. He looked pale and thin. A druggie. I could take him.

He was loading the gun. He fumbled a bit. Was he high right now!?

I shot to my feet and knocked the gun away. He didn't react fast enough. Good. Better for me. I spun him and pressed him to the wall.

And then I was outside in the back of an ambulance. There was a shock blanket around my shoulders. Red and blue lights flashed everywhere. The ambulance wasn't moving. "W-what?"

Club and Error were there suddenly. "Fresh!" They were both talking at once. I couldn't make out the words.

Bang! Geno. He was... The shooter... "Where... Wheres Geno!?"

Club looked away and fijeted with his fingers. Error hissed lightly. "He... Hes at the hospital. They took him first..."

"He was shot... He pushed me away!" I felt tears coming.

Error wrapped his arms around me. "He's gonna be okay. They said it missed his soul but it broke two of his ribs...."

I clutched onto the back of his hoodie. "He was right there. I couldn't..." I hiccuped and buried my face in his shoulder.

"It's not your fault..." Club whispered rubbing my shoulders.

Minutes later I wiped my eyes. "The kids..?"

Error looked grim. "Jessie and Morang are fine. So is the boy that was in the hall with you and Geno. The school vice principal, secretary, and two kids died... "

Two kids. Two kids died. That could have been Jessie.

I nodded. "I wanna see Geno..."

Error sighed and nodded. Now that I was looking, he has clearly been crying not long ago. "Jess and Morang are both wth Heart. I'll drive you two up there."

I nodded as Club helped me too my feet. He clutched onto my shoulder. "You okay..?"

I nodded. I jut wanted to see Geno... I had to. I had to know he was gonna be okay.

Error clutched at his chest. Later I would notice he was grabbing where he had been shot all those years ago. Now all I was worried about was Geno.

God I hated the hospital smell. Too sterile. It smelled like sickness and cleaning solution.

Geno was just out of surgery. He looked so still. Is this what it was like when he was sick? This worry? This fear that he might... he might not make it?

"He's gonna be okay..." I numbly registered the doctors words before I shut down.

He's gonna be okay. Geno is gonna be okay.
