Refresh: Extras

Valentine.

   "This is dumb," I hissed out.

   "You still have to do it." Heart stuck his tongue out.

   "It's embarrassing!" I snapped tapping my foot. My nerves were on fire. There was no way right? We were always careful right?

   "Sure sure." Heart rolled his eyes and sighed. "Its been 10 minutes."

   I huffed and picked up the little stick. This was extremely. Extremely. embarrassing. I glanced at the results. Two pink lines. Positive. Fuck.

   "Positive!!!" Heart cheered and tossed his arms around my neck. "This is great!!!"

   "No it's not!" I pushed him off. "This is terrible! What if my glitching hurts it? What if something goes wrong? What if–" I could feel my glitches going haywire. Crash. A crash was coming.

   Heart grabbed onto my hands and rubbed soothing circles. "Error. The baby is going to be fine."

   "B-but-" I started.

   Heart hugged me close and nuzzled. "It's gonna be okay."

   The glitching subsided. "You sure..?" he murmured.

   "I'm positive." He pressed a kiss to my head.

   After the initial freak out it wasn't that scary... Goth was 3 months old and Palette 2. It wouldn't be so bad. . .

   Naturally we had to be careful who we told. We still didn't know how my glitching would affect the baby so we didn't want to get their hopes up. It was four months in when the doctor gave us the ok, he baby would be ok, that we decided to tell them.

   Ma and Asy were first. Ma had honestly been shocked. She had expected Geno and even Fresh to want children but me? Not to say she wasn't happy! She was ecstatic! Asy congratulated us as well.

   Hearts younger brothers were next. We had them swear to secrecy. If Club found out then Fresh would find out. That would open a whole new can of worms.

   We told Ink and Dream over the phone. Ink of course wanted to come over right away. Thank God for Dream. Dream managed to keep Ink in check.

   And then came the big part. Geno, Fresh, and Club. The hardest ones to tell.

   We hadn't even decided how to tell them. It kinds came out by accident. We were celebrating Reapers promotion. There was a bit of alcohol. Everyone had drank a bit. That is except Fresh and myself.

   "Come on Error one little drink?" Geno offered. "This is a party!" He wasn't that drunk.

   "I can't drink." I insisted.

   Geno pouted. "Why not?"

   My eye twitched. "Uts bad for the baby." Uh oh.

   You could almost hear the record scratch. Geno dropped the full cup. "The baby!?"

   Oh Great. All eyes were on me and Geno now.

   My face flushed. "Shut up Geno!" I snapped.

   "What does he mean baby?" Club asked snapping his head to look at Heart.

   Heart gave a sheepish smile and shrugged. "Surprise?"

   "You're having a baby!? Oh that's great!!!" Geno beamed.

   "Wow that's something unexpected." Fresh chuckled softly. "Since when?"

   "A while." I muttered rubbing my arm.

   That night was one of the most embarrassing of my life. At one point Heart and I finally managed to slip out and go home.

   The baby was supposed to be a girl. Key word Supposed to be.

   The baby boy was born after 13 hours of labor. It. Was. Awful. Never again.

   We had names picked out for a girl but had no clue what to call a boy. So he went nameless for the first 6 hours of life.

   It was dark. I was holding the baby boy close. His eyes sparkled lightly in the dim light. "Valentine. . ."

   Heart grinned. "I like that. Baby Valentine."
