Months have gone by since Lucy Ross was arrested. She was given a trail and the court found her guilty for murder of her family and assault to (Y/n). She was given 40 to life in prison. Hearing the good news that she would be lock up forever, (Y/n) was filled with joy. Everyone in the town of Crypt Hills was heard about the news about the truth of what happened to Shannon and her father Dallas. Over the past few months, (Y/n) was learning a lot more from Alastor. He taught her how to cook more delicious foods, teaching her about the culture of the 1930s, helping her with her history homework, and even teaching her a bit of piano and violin lessons. (Y/n) and her family had a piano in their living room and when they were alone, Alastor would teach (Y/n) more music on the piano. She was quite the fast learner, especially since she hasn't played the piano since she was 8 years old. Sometimes the two of them would play jazz music together. Sometimes, (Y/n) would play her flute or violin to have their own concert.

April 15, 1989

In the same part of the forest where they met, Alastor and (Y/n) were happily playing their music to a fully jazz session. Alastor was playing the trumpet while (Y/n) was playing the flute. They were having a blast. Their music filled the center of the forest, though their music was loud, it wasn't loud enough for anyone suspecting the mysterious noise in the forest. To make things more fun, Alastor summoned his shadows as they played their own instruments. Alastor could see (Y/n) smiling as she danced and played her flute. She would be stop to laugh at all the fun she was having. She was glad to smile again, something she hasn't had in a long time. Most of her smiles were fake and she had to masked her pain and suffering for a long time. Thanks, to Alastor she was able to have a real smile again.

Alastor and (Y/n) conclude their music, they and the shadows gave each a round of applause for their music. (Y/n) giggles as she tries to calm down from her excitement. "Man, that was fun!" Alastor claps. "Quite true, my dear." Alastor pushed (Y/n) into the center of his shadow demons. "Why don't we give my lovely apprentice another round of applause?" The shadow demons cheered and clapped for (Y/n). Smiling, she blushed embarrassedly at the attention she is receiving and she bows down. She looks up and saw the sun was beginning to set. She grabs her flute and puts it back in its case. "I think we should get going before my mom gets worried." Alastor looks up. "I believe you are right." His shadow demons disappear and he hides back in (Y/n)'s shadow.

Once (Y/n) enters her own, she saw that her father had invited his gang for another meeting. Sometimes, (Y/n) wonders if they could have their meeting somewhere else. She was glad see one person though, Marshal. He was taken in by her father's gang when he was 16 years old. He learned everything from them and he would watch out for (Y/n) and Jason, like his own siblings. Marshal disapprove of how his boss treated his own family, most members in the gang disapproved of their bosses behavior, but they couldn't do anything. Caleb was the strongest gang leader anybody in the underground world knows. Not everyone in their town knows that he was a gang leader, he hid his true job as a lawyer. With his job as a lawyer, he was able to get some of his men out of prison if they were ever caught.

(Y/n) felt nervous as she enters inside her own home. Marshal noticed how nervous she was feeling, so he gave her a friendly wave as she waved back. Caleb paused his meeting when he saw his daughter still standing around. He walked towards as (Y/n) was too afraid to move. He grabs her shoulder, until she could pain. She tries to not to scream. "What have I told you? When I have my meeting, you stay in your room." He said. "How was I supposed to know you had a meeting today? I just got hom-" (Y/n) groans in pain as Caleb dug his finger deeper into (Y/n)'s shoulder. "What have I said about talking back? Now get to your room!" He pushed her away as she stumbles, but she was able to stand up. (Y/n) walked towards her room. She could hear some of the members of his gang giving their disapprovals towards him being abusive towards his family. She could hear Caleb threatening them if they didn't shut up.

Inside her room, (Y/n) grabs a first aid kit that she keeps under her bed. She goes to her mirror and pulls her shirt down to expose her shoulder. The nail prints from her father began to ooze a bit of blood out. Before she could grab a cotton ball to clean up her wound, Alastor beat her to it.

"Let me see your shoulder." He orders. Listening to him, (Y/n) allowed Alastor to clean up her wound. She hissed in pain when Alastor dabs the cotton ball to her shoulder, but she endured it. Finished cleaning her wounded, Alastor puts a bandage on her shoulder.

"Thanks, Alastor." (Y/n) went back to her bed and sat down. Alastor could see her losing her smile again. Rubbing his chin while thinking, he thought of way to make her smile again. He took a seat next to her. "Did you hear about the guy who invented the knock knock joke?" Alastor asked. (Y/n) just looked at confusedly. "He won the no-bell prize! Ha ha!" Alastor laughed. (Y/n) stared at him for a second before she broke out laughing. "That joke was lame, but made me laugh."

Alastor ruffles her hair. "Keep smiling (Y/n), it suites you. Just remember what I told you when we first met."

(Y/n) smiled at him. "If I keep smiling, then I won't feel any pain at all."

To cheer her up more, Alastor summon his own violin and plays her a song. Hearing play, (Y/n) grabs her own violin and plays along with him. Seeing (Y/n) have her real smile again, made Alastor proud. He was glad to see her smiling again.

Alastor was right, all she had to do was smiling to forget about her pain.
