AMELIAS POV
I opened my eyes and I was in an ambulance. I sat up and looked around me.
"Where are my kids?" I said, "where's Owen?"
"I'm right here," Owen said, "lay back." My leg was throbbing.
"Owen?" I said weakly.
"Shhh it's okay," he said.
"Where are the kids?" I said.
"They're meeting us at Seattle Press with Meredith, Derek, and Maggie okay?" Owen said.
"My leg," I managed to get out.
"I know," Owen said and kissed my forehead, "it's gonna be okay."
"Should we push morphine?" One of the EMTs asked.
"No," I said.
"She can't take any painkillers okay?" Owen said, "you need to write that down or something please." The EMT nodded and made a note.
"I love you," I said and looked at Owen.
"I love you too," he said. I felt the ambulance stop as the doors opened.
"Okay sir you have to go," the EMT said to Owen.
"Owen," I said and tried to sit up.
"I'll wait for you after surgery okay?" He said.
"Mhm," I said and let go of his hand as they rolled me into the hospital. The kids.
"OWEN!" I yelled as I sat up.
"Ma'am you really need to stay still the bullet could move," the EMT said.
"No I need my kids," I said looking around, "I have four of them. Four. Three of them have brown hair and one of them has red hair I need to see them."
"Amelia," Owen said as he ran and caught up with us, "the kids are here and they're okay, they need to get you up to surgery quick okay? You can see them after I promise. We're all going to wait for you okay?"
"Okay," I said, "okay." He kissed my head and my gurney got pushed into the elevator as a surgeon stepped in. My leg wouldn't stop throbbing. I had to keep looking to see if it was there. It hurt so badly.
OWENS POV
"Is she going to be okay?" Caroline asked.
"Someone shot her?" Maeve said.
"Someone shot mommy?" Lucas said.
"Why don't we walk to the waiting room and find Aunt Meredith and Uncle Derek okay?" I said.
"Is Aunt Maggie here too?" Logan asked.
"Yes she's coming," I said.
"Someone shot mommy?" Lucas asked again. I picked him up and held him close to me.
"Lucas mommy is going to be fine okay?" I said, "she's going to be okay." We got to the waiting room and Meredith and Derek got up.
"Hey," Meredith said, "did she go up for surgery?"
"Yeah," I nodded.
"It's my fault," Derek said, "he wanted me he should have never gone anywhere near Amelia."
"Derek you could have never thought this would happen," I said as I put Lucas down.
"I know but it should have been me," Derek said, "was she awake in the ambulance?"
"She was," I said.
"Did you tell them no meds she can't relapse," Meredith said.
"I told them no meds," I said.
"Good," Derek said.
"Did she go up to surgery?" Maggie asked as she came in.
"Yeah," I nodded.
"Hey where's Logan?" Maggie asked.
"What?" I said. I turned around and only Maeve, Caroline, and Lucas were sitting in the waiting room chairs.
"Caroline where did Logan go?" I asked. She looked up from her lap and looked next to her.
"I thought he was sitting next to Lucas," Caroline said.
"He walked that way I thought he was just sitting in the corner," Maeve said and pointed down the hallway.
"Logan likes sitting in corner chairs," Lucas said, "see his sweatshirt is over there." I looked over and saw his sweatshirt on the chair.
"What way did he go?" I asked and looked at Maeve and she pointed again. I bolted down the hallway.
"Logan?" I said as I started looking around the hallway. This was Seattle Press. I had no idea where anything was. I saw a closet door open and I peeked inside. Sure enough Logan was huddled in the corner.
"Logan?" I said.
"Daddy?" He said. I turned the light on and he was crying.
"Hey," I said and sat down across from him, "talk to me."
"Mommy's going to die," he said quietly.
"No she's not," I said, "she's going to be fine, she's just in surgery so the doctors can take the bullet out."
"But people shoot other people so they die," He said quietly, "like in the video games."
"Well that's true, but in real life people live," I said.
"Mommy's going to be okay?" Logan asked, "she's not going to die?"
"Nope," I said, "she'll be fine."
"Are you okay?" Logan asked, "Did you get hurt too?"
"No I'm okay," I said.
"Okay," he nodded.
"Come on let's go back to the waiting room," I said.
"I want to stay here," he said and curled further in a ball.
"I'll carry you," I said.
"Daddy I'm 12 you don't have to carry me," he chuckled.
"Okay then," he chuckled and he got up. We both walked down the hallway and Logan went back to his chair.
"Where'd you go?" Maeve asked.
"He just want for a walk," I said and Logan nodded.
"Is mommy okay?" Lucas asked.
"Yeah," I said, "we can see her soon I promise." Caroline got up and sat down next to me.
"She's going to be okay right?" She whispered. I nodded.
"She's fine it was her leg it won't hit any organs or anything," I said.
"You promise?" Caroline asked.
"Yeah," I nodded, "it'll be fine."
AMELIAS POV
I opened my eyes and saw everyone in my room.
"Mommy!" Lucas said.
"H-hey," I smiled as I opened my eyes more. I looked down at the blankets I was under and could see that I still had my leg. I smiled as I reached for Owen's hand.
"Hey sweetheart," Owen said and kissed my forehead.
"Mom," Caroline and Maeve smiled as they hugged me.
"Hey guys," I said and then reached for Logan.
"Hey buddy," I said.
"Hi mommy," he smiled, "you're okay."
"I'm okay," I said.
"Amelia," Derek said, "I'm so sorry."
"Shut up this isn't your fault," I said, "it's not. I'm not mad. Do not feel guilty it's okay Derek."
"Love you Amy," he said and hugged me.
"I love you too Derek," I said.
"I'm so glad you're okay," Meredith and Maggie smiled.
"How do you feel?" Maggie asked.
"Legs a little sore but I'm okay," I said, "lucky to be okay."
