Timeline: Amelia is 3 months pregnant. Caroline is 3 years old.
OWENS POV
"Good morning," I whispered in Amelias ear softly.
"Mm," she mumbled, "good morning. Is this a rare morning without Caroline climbing on us."
"It is," I chuckled and kissed her cheek, "and how is the little one doing this morning."
"He or she is doing good," Amelia said and sat up. I smiled at her little bump. I kissed her stomach and she smiled. 3 months ago Bailey gave Amelia the head of neuro position. She loves it, and I'm so proud of her. She's balancing everything really well, and we're in such a good place.
"I think the little one is hungry though," Amelia laughed as we got up. I opened the bedroom door and Caroline was walking down the hallway.
"Daddy you're awake!" She smiled.
"I am awake," I said.
"Is mommy and the baby awake too?" She asked.
"Yes we are," Amelia said as she walked next to me.
"Mommy! How is the baby?" Caroline asked. Caroline was so adorable. She was always asking about the baby it was so cute. It really was.
"The baby is doing just fine," Amelia smiled as the three of us walked downstairs.
-
"Hey you paged?" I asked as I opened Amelia's office. That was a perk of her being a department head, an office.
"I'm tired," she complained, "can you come cuddle with me?"
"You paged me for cuddles?" I chuckled.
"I'm in a lot of pain Owen," she complained. She was cuddled in a blanket on the couch and I walked over to her. I sat down behind her and she laid back onto me.
"What hurts?" I asked.
"I'm just really sore," she said. I rubbed her stomach and kissed her cheek. Her hand fell on top of mine and I smiled.
"2 months and we can know the gender," I smiled.
"Yeah," she smiled, "I'm happy."
"Me too," I said, "I'm so proud of you. You're head of neuro and an amazing mom, you're doing both."
"So are you," Amelia said, "your an amazing surgeon and father. I love you."
"I love you too," I said.
"Thank you for laying here with me," Amelia said.
"Are you comfortable?" I asked.
"Yeah," Amelia nodded, "thank you."
"You're welcome," I said.
AMELIAS POV
Today was just painful. I was in so much pain. Everywhere. My feet, legs, thighs, stomach, back. Everything hurt. I was starting the second trimester soon. My office door opened and it was Derek.
"Alright now that your the boss and all, I want to do this surgery," Derek said and sat down and gave me a chart.
"Can I scrub in?" I asked.
"Yes," he said, "you just have to approve it because it's experimental."
"You're positive you can do it?" I asked.
"Yes I'm positive," he said, "trust me."
"Okay," I said and signed off, "when is it."
"Scheduled for next week, patient wants her family from across the country to come," he said.
"Okay sounds good," I said.
"Thanks Amy," he said.
"Chief Amy to you," I laughed.
"Yeah yeah," he laughed. I got up to go check the ER and I rubbed my back.
"Hey you okay?" Owen asked.
"Yeah I'm good," I said as I saw him in the ER, knowing it was going to be a long day.
-
"Caroline make sure you have all your toys," I said as I kissed her head. I was signing her out of daycare while Owen finished some paper work.
"I do mommy," she said and zipped her backpack and put it on. I grabbed her little hand as we walked to the elevator.
"Mommy" Caroline asked.
"Yes baby," I said.
"When is the baby coming?" She asked.
"A few more months," I said.
"Months?" She asked.
"Mhm," I said.
"How many months are there?" She asked. I chuckled as the doors opened. Toddlers have zero perception of time.
"There's 12," I said.
"Really?" She asked.
"Yup," I said as I opened the door to the lounge Owen was in.
"Hey there's my two favorite girls," Owen smiled.
"Daddy did you know that there's 12 months?" Caroline said.
"There is 12 months," Owen laughed as he picked her up, "did mommy tell you that?"
"Yeah, she said that I have to wait a few months for the baby, and that there's 12 months," Caroline explained to Owen.
"Mommy's right. She's very smart you know," Owen said.
"She is," Caroline giggled.
"Your daddy is very smart too," I said, "I'm sure he could name all the months for you."
"They have names?" Caroline said.
"They do have names princess," Owen said, "there's January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, and December."
"That's a lot," Caroline said.
"That is a lot," I chuckled.
"What month is the baby coming?" Caroline asked.
"February or March," I said.
"Isn't that neat Caroline?" Owen smiled.
"Yeah," she giggled.
-
"Hey how was your day today?" I asked as I walked into the bathroom.
"It was good how was yours?" Owen asked.
"Painful," I chuckled, "this baby is killing me."
"Want a back massage?" Owen asked.
"In the bath?" I asked.
"Mhm," he nodded and kissed my cheek, "anything for you." We climbed in the bath tub and he started rubbing my back.
"Right there good?" He asked sweetly.
"Yes thank you," I said, "you're the best."
"That's all you honey," he said and kissed my shoulder.
"So have you thought of any names?" I asked.
"A few," he said.
"I wanna hear them!" I smiled.
"Oliver, Logan, Hayden, Layla, Brooke," he said.
"I like Logan and Hayden," I said.
"You do?" He said.
"Mhm," I smiled.
"Have you thought of names?" He said.
"I really like Maeve," I said.
"You come up with good names," he chuckled.
"You did too this time," I said, "also Scarlett."
"That's pretty," he said.
"Yeah," I said.
"What about Amelia Jr." he joked.
"Don't start with that crap again," I said as I splashed him with water. He splashed my back and wrapped his arms around me.
"I love you," he said.
"I love you too," I said.
