AMELIAS POV
I loved working here. Everyone was so incredibly kind and helping. I actually got to scrub in on a craniotomy today which was awesome. I loved it here, and as much as I missed Derek and Boston, it was nice here, and I really liked this job. I really do.
"Shepherd," the neuro attending said.
"Yes?" I said.
"Grab that scalpel I want to teach you something," he said. Today was a good day.
-
I was walking to the coffee cart when my phone buzzed. I ordered coffee and I looked down and it was Owen.
"Do you have a minute I wanna see you," it read. I smiled as I grabbed my coffee.
"Outside with coffee," I sent.
"I'll be there in a minute," he said. I smiled as I sat down and saw my cute husband walking towards me after a few moments. He sat down next to me and I smiled.
"Guess what?" I said.
"What?" He said.
"I got to clip an aneurysm today," I smiled.
"Really? That's amazing," he said.
"Mhm," I smiled as I took a sip of my coffee, "how is your day going?"
"It's good, I've been doing a lot of paperwork for the trauma attending but she said tomorrow there's a scheduled surgery I can scrub in on," He said.
"That's good," I said, "is the attending Kepner?"
"Yeah," He said, "She's nice."
"Yeah that's what Jo told me," I said.
"Jo?" He said.
"General fellow, she's also dating Alex Karev," I said.
"Brown hair? Taller than you?" He said.
"That's the one," I said, "but taller than me is most people in this hospital." He chuckled and kissed my temple.
"That's also true," he said.
"I like it here," I admitted.
"I knew you would," he said.
"Have you seen Megan?" I asked.
"No," he said, "I think she's really busy."
"I figured," I said.
"So you like it here?" He smiled.
"Yes," I smiled and leaned in and kissed him. My pager went off and so did his. He kissed me again before we both got up and ran to the ER.
OWENS POV
I haven't seen Amelia since we had coffee together this afternoon. It was really late so I texted her.
"Hey," I sent. After a few minutes she texted me back.
"Can we get pizza for dinner," she sent. I laughed as I opened the text message.
"Sure," I sent.
"I'm almost done, you?" She sent.
"Yeah," I sent.
"Give me 20," she said. I liked the message as I walked into the locker room and changed and grabbed my bag.
"Owen!" I heard as I walked out. I turned around to see Megan.
"Hey," I said and hugged her.
"How was your first day?" She asked.
"It was good," I said, "how was your day."
"Exhausting," she said, "so I had a question."
"Okay," I said.
"So can you let me scrub in on that surgery you're doing tomorrow with Kepner?" She asked, "Please?"
"Megan," I chuckled, "I'll have to talk to April."
"Okay," she said, "but you'll put in a good word for me?"
"Yes I will," I said.
"Does Amelia like it here?" She asked.
"She does," I said.
"That's good," she said.
"Yeah," I said.
"Well I'll see you tomorrow," she said.
"See you tomorrow Meg," I said. I walked down the hallway and saw Amelia walking with Jo. Amelia was holding a binder and she looked exhausted.
"Hey," I said as I walked up next to her.
"Hi," Amelia said, "Owen this is Jo, Jo, Owen."
"It's so nice to meet you," Jo said.
"You too," I said.
"Was that Megan?" Amelia asked.
"Yeah," I nodded. She nodded as we said goodbye to Jo and walked out to the car. We both got in the car and Amelia opened the binder.
"Guess what," she said.
"What?" I said.
"There's this really cool neuro case and the attending on the case said that if I research it and look into methods I can operate with him," she said, she looked so happy.
"That's awesome," I said, "is that what all of this is?"
"Yeah," she said, "how was the rest of your day?"
"I operated on someone today," I said, "it was pretty great."
"That's awesome," she said, "I'm so proud of us."
"Me too," I said. I drove home and ordered pizza while Amelia went into the office to finished a few things for work. We're in a really good place right now. We live in a house together, we have the careers we love, new jobs, and we live close to my family, but all I can think about is how badly I want to start a family. We bought this particular house because it has extra rooms for when we start a family. When we were dating all we every talked about we kids, but now I feel like there's no time.
"Hey you okay? You look like you're thinking," Amelia said as she came out of the office.
"Oh it's nothing," I said, "how's the research going?"
"I wrote some notes, I think I'm going to really work on it tomorrow," she said, "is something wrong?"
"What? No," I said.
"Owen," she said softly as we sat down on the couch, "you can talk to me."
"I know," I said.
"So what's bothering you?" She said.
"I want kids," I said.
