Timeline: 1 week (they're home from Vermont)
Trigger warning: substance abuse
CAROLINES POV
I put on my makeup and walked downstairs. I was miserable. Brandon was making my life miserable. All his popular guy friends were ganging up on me and bullying me. I hated it. I couldn't say anything because my parents would freak out. But it was bad. I didn't even do anything. They're starting to spread rumors about me. I looked at my phone and had a text from my best friend Kelly. At least she stayed. Thank god she stayed.
"Wanna grab lunch after school?" She sent.
"Sure, after I drop my siblings off at home," I sent.
"Take your time, meet around 2 for a late lunch?" She sent.
"Sounds perfect Kel," I sent. I put my phone in my pocket and my parents made us breakfast. I grabbed my keys and dropped my siblings off at the middle school and then parked in my parking spot. I sat in my car as I looked at the doors. I didn't want to go in. Yesterday Brandon and his friends wrote words on my locker. Shit like prude, slut, whore, idiot. The first two seem a little contradictory but whatever. I heard a knock on my window and I looked and it was Brandon's friend Michael. I rolled down the window and looked at him.
"What do you want?" I asked.
"Just wondering if you were going to go into school today or not," he laughed.
"Shut up," I said, "it's none of your business."
"Aw are you all upset about Brandon? News flash he doesn't care," he said. I opened my car door and hit him with it.
"Leave me alone," I said and walked into the building where the words were still written on my locked. I sighed as I opened it.
"They still didn't rub this shit off?" Kelly said as she looked at me.
"It's not a big deal," I said.
"It is a big deal!" Kelly said.
"Kelly leave it alone," I said.
"Are you okay?" Kelly asked.
"I'll get over it," I said.
"We still good for lunch? You need a day out," Kelly said.
"We're still on," I said. We parted ways to get to class and I saw Brandon. I looked down at my phone and saw a picture of me on Snapchat. Of course it was the picture of me hitting Michael with my car door. Prude strikes back. Ugh. I hated this. He cheated and I'm the one that gets all the crap. I sat down in my class and I just wanted this all to end.
AMELIAS POV
"Hi," I smiled as I handed Owen a cup of coffee.
"Hey," he said and kissed my cheek, "what's up?"
"I have a few minutes before a craniotomy," I said, "you?"
"Waiting for an incoming trauma. Think it's a few minutes out," he said.
"Gotcha," I said, "oh and Lucas wanted me to tell you that he's requesting a Minecraft game night."
"Is that so?" He chuckled.
"I think it involves you him and Logan building Minecraft houses," I chuckled.
"I might have to up my skills," he joked and kissed my head, "but sounds like a plan. What do you want to do for dinner?"
"Tacos sound good?" I suggested.
"Good with me," he said.
"Perfect," I said. Someone came in on a gurney and I kissed Owen's cheek.
"Good luck, love you," I said.
"See ya, love you too," he said as I ran down the hallway. I had some charting to do. I know charting is so an intern thing but sometimes it's wrong, and it's kinda nice to do sometimes. I grabbed a binder and sat down on an empty gurney.
"What's up boss?" Derek joked as I looked up.
"Hey," I smiled.
"You doing intern work?" Derek laughed and grabbed the binder from me.
"The interns don't do the best job," I chuckled.
"You're right," he said.
"What are you up to today?" I asked.
"Why you want to steal my surgeries?" He said.
"No I have a craniotomy in a half hour," I said.
"I'm clipping an aneurism," he said.
"Nice," I said.
"Yeah," He said.
CAROLINES POV
I finished lunch with Kelly. It was nice, but I was so distracted. I hated everything that was going on in my life right now. I sat in my car and looked at my phone. I couldn't even do anything on my phone. All of my social media's were full of hateful comments. I was blocking people but it was just too much now. I remembered something. Jenny Kerrigan. She had drugs. She always bragged about how good they made her feel. Good. I needed that. I pulled up a new message and texted her.
"Hey Jenny its Caroline, from 4th period," I sent.
"Hey what's up?" She sent.
"Can I buy drugs off of you?" I sent.
"Sure," she sent.
"What do you want?" She sent a few seconds after.
"Something strong," I sent.
"Meet me at the 7-11 on Morris St." She sent.
"What do I owe you?" I sent.
"This ones on me, you've been having a horrible week," she sent.
"Thank you," I sent. I drove over to the 7-11 and I saw her car. She got out and opened my passenger car seat.
"Here," she said and handed me a cylinder, "it's oxy. It's really good, just don't take too much it'll make you pass out."
"Cool thanks," I said.
"I hope this gets better for you," she said and got out. I looked at the bottle of pills. You could pass out.
