AMELIAS POV
I opened my eyes and I felt so sick. I rolled over and got out of bed and walked to the bathroom. I barely made it to the toilet before I started throwing up.
"Amelia," Owen said groggily, "you okay?"
"Yeah," I managed to get out. He came over and sat down behind me and rubbed my back.
"I hate this," I said.
"Me too, I hate that you're sick all the time," Owen said, "I can call out for us."
"No it's fine, it'll pass," I said as I leaned back into him. Owen placed his hands on my stomach and I smiled.
"Hey little one, mommy has a busy day ahead of her so don't give her a hard time alright?" Owen talked to my stomach.
"Hopefully they listen to their daddy," I chuckled. He kissed my cheek and we both got up and got ready for work. I walked into the closet and tried to put a pair of jeans on and of course they didn't fit. I frowned as Owen came into the closet.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"Nothing," I said as I could feel tears welling in my eyes. I hated these hormones so much.
"Amelia honey," he said.
"I need something to wear and nothing fits anymore," I said crying.
"Okay shh it's okay," he said and brought me into his chest. I wrapped my arms around his waist and he kissed my head.
"Why don't you wear leggings? You change into scrubs anyway when you get there. Who cares if your jeans don't fit, jeans are uncomfortable anyway," he said sweetly.
"Okay," I said, "sorry these hormones are so strong lately."
"You don't have to apologize Amelia," he said and kissed my cheek, "I'm always here for whoever you need."
"Thank you I love you," I said.
"I love you too," he said, "what do you want for breakfast this morning?"
"French toast?" I asked cutely.
"You bet," he said and kissed my forehead, "I'll be downstairs making breakfast whenever you're ready. We'll leave for work close to 10."
"Okay," I said as he left. How did I get so lucky?
OWENS POV
I feel really bad for Amelia. This week she just entered the second trimester, and it's really hard on her. I try to be there for her but sometimes her hormones don't let me. She's angry sometimes. Sad sometimes. Crying. Yelling. Sleepy. Sick. I just feel really bad. I was downstairs making French toast when I heard footsteps. I turned and saw her wearing leggings and a sweater.
"Hi," I said.
"Hi," she said.
"You look cute," I said, knowing she was probably super insecure because of the pregnancy, even though she had absolutely no reason to be. She was always beautiful.
"Thanks," she said.
"Breakfast will be ready in a few minutes," I said.
"Okay," she nodded and went to the fridge and grabbed the orange juice.
"You hate orange juice," I laughed.
"Okay but our kid loves it," she laughed, "and I'm craving it for no reason."
"It's not that bad if you give it a chance," I chuckled as I grabbed two plates.
"Mhm," she said as she poured a cup.
"So what do you have today?" I asked as we sat down for breakfast.
"I'm working on a case with Mer and Jo today, Mer's letting me monitor the brain function while she does surgery, and Jo is studying under her since she's an attending," Amelia explained.
"That's cool," I said.
"Yeah, you?" She asked.
"ER stuff today. Hopefully something good comes in," I said.
"Yeah," she said, "I'm just glad Derek trusts me in the OR with Mer by myself."
"That's good," I said.
"He's like kind of my boss, and it's weird. Like I can put up with Tom, but your own brother telling you what to do at work is so weird," she said.
"Probably how Megan feels," I chuckled.
"Oh she does. We've started a club," she laughed.
"The younger sisters club?" I joked.
"Basically," she said.
AMELIAS POV
I was sitting in X-rays with Mer and Jo. We were waiting for a few internal scans to come up. I suddenly felt myself become super nauseous. Oh my god not at work.
"Hey I'm going to run to the bathroom real quick," I said.
"Okay," Mer said, "if we're not here meet us in the viewing room."
"Okay thanks," I said. I ran to the bathroom and immediately started throwing up in the toilet. My sickness was so bad today, and it extended beyond the morning. I felt myself trying not to cry but it really wasn't working at all. After a few minutes I heard the door open.
"Amelia?" Meredith said.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Are you okay?" She asked.
"Yeah I'm fine," I said.
"Are you sick?" She asked. I flushed the toilet and exited the stall.
"Oh honey," she frowned as I wiped my tears, "it's okay, I get sick at work sometimes too. I promise it's normal."
"It's so annoying," I complained, "and these stupid hormones are making me cry 24/7!" She laughed and hugged me again.
"I know, trust me I'm there too. It sucks, but think about it, you're growing you and Owen's baby," she said, "that's an amazing thing."
"I know," I cried, "but I just hate feeling like this at work. I was so scared being pregnant would come in the way of my career and I feel like that's coming true."
"No it's not. Don't say that. There's always pregnancy symptoms, but you're doing amazing Amelia. You're crazy smart, and I'm not just saying that okay? You are. You're brilliant and an amazing surgeon. You can do both. I'm doing both, you're doing both, we're in this together. We can both get through this. I know it's tough, but we have each other," she said softly, "it's going to be okay."
"Thank you," I said and hugged her, "I'm literally just having an awful day."
"We all have that sometimes. Pregnant or not, but especially when pregnant," she chuckled, "come on let's go do surgery okay?"
"Okay," I nodded, "Thanks."
"You're welcome," she said. The door opened as I wiped my tears and I looked up and it was Jo.
"You okay?" She asked. I looked at Mer and realized I should tell her. I was starting my second trimester this week.
"I'm pregnant," I said. Her mouth dropped as she looked at me.
"Oh my god! Is this good? Bad? Why are you crying? Is everything okay?" She said and hugged me.
"It's good, really good, these hormones are just killing me," I laughed.
"Oh my god this is amazing," she smiled, "Amelia! Congrats!"
"Thanks," I said.
"Did you guys plan this?" She said and looked at Mer.
"No don't be ridiculous we're not that crazy," Meredith laughed.
"Is it a girl or boy? Or do you not know yet?" She asked.
"I have to wait to find out. It's still too early," I said as we started walking out of the bathroom.
"I hope it's a girl. A mini you would be adorable," Jo said.
"Well you don't exactly get to choose," Meredith laughed as we walked to the OR and started scrubbing in.
"I'm so happy for you," Jo smiled as she scrubbed in next to me. My sisters might be unsupportive, but I have people here. People who I love dearly, and who love me too.
