OWENS POV
I let Amelia storm upstairs. Her hormones were crazy lately that I didn't want to upset or anger her more. I walked into the kitchen and grabbed a bowl of ice cream with her favorite sprinkles on top. I walked into the living room and grabbed Amelia's favorite fuzzy blanket and walked upstairs. I opened the bedroom door and Amelia was laying on her side, and I could tell from the way her body was moving up and down she was crying.
"Hey," I said softly.
"Owen please go away," she said crying.
"You don't want me to go away," I said, "look what I brought." She rolled onto her back as I sat down on the bed.
"I'm not hungry," she said.
"Yes you are," I said and handed her the bowl. Reluctantly she sat up and took the bowl from me.
"Thanks," she said quietly.
"You're welcome," I said, "do you want to talk?"
"I hate my family," she said, "except Derek and Liz."
"I know," I said.
"I hate them. They can never let me be happy for five seconds. It's all about their nasty opinions, and my mom always has to defend them," she said.
"I know, it's not fair," I said.
"It's not fair that my side of the family is the bad side!" She cried.
"I know it's not," I said, "but hey, you have two siblings who you're close with. Two is better than none."
"It's my fault our kid won't have a good relationship with any of their cousins besides Zola and Mer's baby, their aunts, or their grandmother on my side," she said, "and I regret it."
"Amelia you didn't do anything wrong," I said and tried comforting her. I brought her into my arms and kissed her forehead.
"Remember when we first started dating?" I asked.
"How could I forget?" She said sweetly.
"Well your mother absolutely despised me. She hated me. She begged you to break up with me. She convinced you to dump me. Thanks by the way. But look where we are now. We're having a baby together. We're married. We live in Seattle and are surgeons. It worked out, and your mom likes me. I don't know what her problem is this time, but she'll come around. I promise she'll come around. Believe it or not I know she loves you, and for whatever reason she doesn't get along the best with you, but she loves you. Give her time," I said and kissed her cheek, "I love you."
"I love you too," she said, "thanks. I needed to hear that."
"You're welcome," I said, "we all need reassurance sometimes. It's perfectly normal."
"Owen?" She said as she looked up at me.
"Yeah?" I said.
"I'm sorry for breaking up with you," she laughed.
"It's forgiven now," I chuckled and kissed her cheek.
"You were so mean then," she laughed.
"I was having a moment," I chuckled, "it wasn't a good one."
"I know," she laughed.
"I'm sorry for being mean to you," I said.
"I know, and it's okay," she said as she snuggled into me, "thanks for the ice cream."
"You're welcome," I said, "anything else I can get you?"
"Just cuddles with my husband," she smiled as she pulled the fuzzy blanket closer to her. She was so incredibly cute.
"It can be arranged," I said and pulled her close to me. She cuddled into my chest and I wrapped one arm around her waist and the other I ran through her hair.
"Don't listen to them okay? You're perfect just the way you are and we're doing everything we're supposed to be doing. We trust Arizona and she's giving us all the guidance we need. They don't know a thing about what we're doing. You know your sisters get insanely jealous sometimes okay? It's nothing you did. You are perfect just the way you are. You are my perfect wife, and our baby's perfect momma," I said. She looked up at me and she started crying.
"I hate these stupid hormones but that was so sweet I love you," she said crying.
"I love you too," I said and wiped her tears away with my thumbs.
"Nancy's not even married yet so, seems like she is jealous," Amelia said softly.
"She probably is, don't let it get you upset," I said.
"If I wasn't so gosh darn hormonal right now it wouldn't be making me this sensitive," she chuckled.
"It's okay to be sensitive anyway Amelia," I chuckled.
"Shut up," she said and hit my chest. I placed a bunch of kisses on her forehead and she smiled.
"I don't care if my family is the bad side, because I have you. My perfect husband, and the man who is going to make the perfect father to our son or daughter. I have plenty of support from your mom and sister, and Derek's family. We can do this. It's our family. Fuck what everyone else thinks," she said.
