OWENS POV
"Amelia get up," I said as I rolled over.
"Owen," she complained.
"Come on we're getting the dog today," I smiled as I kissed her, "and the kids are asleep right now." She sat up and looked at the clock.
"It's 7:30 are you joking," she chuckled.
"They open at 8!" I defended.
"I'm tired," she said.
"Get up sleepy," I said and got her out of bed. We walked into the bathroom and Amelia looked at the tub.
"Can we take a bath before we go?" She asked.
"Sure," I said. She turned the water on and I turned around and she took her shirt off.
"Hi," I smiled and kissed her. We got in the tub and I massaged her back as she grabbed the soap.
"The kids are going to be so happy about the dog," Amelia said.
"They are," I said and kissed her shoulder and then her neck.
"I have one rule though," She chuckled.
"Yes I know the dog isn't allowed in our room so it doesn't pee all over our stuff," I laughed.
"Yes exactly," she said softly.
AMELIAS POV
Owen was warming the car up and I grabbed a sticky note to write for the kids.
Hi Guys! Dad and I had to check on a patient early this morning, we'll be back around 8:30. Love you! Xoxo, mom & dad.
"You ready?" Owen asked as he grabbed his jacket.
"Yup," I smiled and grabbed my phone. We got in the car and started driving to the animal shelter. Owen parked the car and we got out.
"You must be Mr. And Mrs. Hunt! I'm justin," the man said and shook our hands.
"Nice to meet you," Owen said.
"Here is your newest member of the family," justin said as a little puppy ran out to us.
"Oh my gosh," I smiled as I pet the dog.
"Admit it," Owen said, "I was right."
"You were right," I chuckled as we played with the dog some more. After a while Owen filled out the official papers and the puppy was small enough that I could pick him up without him being too heavy.
"Are we ready to go home?" Owen asked as he put the leash on our new little puppy. I let the dog start running towards the car and Owen chuckled.
"Energetic little dude," Owen smiled.
"I'm so glad we're doing this," I said.
"Me too," Owen said.
OWENS POV
I got home and Amelia was waiting in the car with the puppy. I walked inside and actually all four of the kids were up. I texted Amelia to come to the door.
"Kids?" I said as I walked into the kitchen.
"Oh hey dad how was your patient?" Caroline asked.
"Oh they're fine, but can you guys come to the door your mother needs help carrying something," I said.
"Sure," Maeve said. The four of them walked to the door and there Amelia was holding the dog.
"NO WAY!" Logan said and opened the door and Amelia put the dog down and he started running around the living room.
"ARE YOU SERIOUS?" Maeve said.
"Like this is actually our puppy?" Caroline said.
"Yes," Amelia and I smiled.
"Thank you mommy and daddy!" Lucas said as he started chasing the puppy around the room.
"Does the doggie have a name?" Logan asked.
"Well your father and I were thinking that was something we could all decide on today," Amelia said.
"Why doesn't everyone come up with a few names and we can discuss them over dinner?" I said.
"What is for dinner?" Maeve asked.
"Pizza," I said.
"Why can't we name him after me?" Lucas said, "it was my idea to get a dog."
"That's not fair I want to name the dog after me!" Logan complained.
"How about we settle this and name the dog after nobody," Amelia laughed as the dog ran over to her. Caroline and Maeve went over to the puppy and I smiled.
"Is the dog a boy or a girl?" Caroline asked.
"It's a boy," Amelia said.
-
"Do we get to come up with names or just the kids?" I asked Amelia as I walked into the bedroom.
"Do you have a name?" She said.
"Do you?" I said.
"I haven't really thought about it," she said. The dog ran into our room and Amelia looked at me.
"Owen the one rule!" She laughed.
"I'll get him," I said and he started running around the room. He was a lot faster than me. He jumped on the bed and Amelia shot me a glance.
"Daddy is the dog up here? He ran up the stairs!" Logan said as he ran up the stairs with Lucas.
"Yes he's in here," I said and the boys came into our room.
"OWEN," Amelia laughed and I turned around and the dog was peeing on the floor. I was dead. Amelia was going to kill me. Amelia picked the dog up and the boys ran downstairs.
"I had one rule," she said.
"I'm sorry," I said.
"Can you clean the carpet I'll bring the dog downstairs," she said.
"I love you," I said.
"I love you too," she chuckled.
"Logan!" I called.
"Yes?" He said as he walked into the bedroom.
"Can you help me clean up the dog pee," I chuckled.
"Sure," he said.
"Ew the dog peed," Caroline said.
"Caroline the dog has to pee too," I chuckled.
"Ew it smells!" Caroline said and walked downstairs. She was just like Amelia.
AMELIAS POV
I opened the back door and the dog started running around.
"Okay little guy," I chuckled as he came over to me, "please don't pee on the floor again." I heard the back door open and it was Maeve.
"Hi mom," she said.
"Did your father send you down here to see if I'm mad?" I chuckled.
"Maybe," she said, "are you?"
"No," I said. She raised an eyebrow at me and sat down next to me on the grass as the dog ran up to her.
"The dog peed on the floor Maeve," I said, "right next to the bed."
"I have an idea," she said.
"Okay," I said.
"You know those gates that you used to put up by the staircase when we were little?" She said.
"So you and your siblings wouldn't fall down the stairs?" I chuckled, "yes."
"Why don't you put that on your door," she said.
"That's actually a good idea," I said.
"I know," she said.
OWENS POV
I couldn't tell if Amelia was mad at me. I accidentally let the dog in our room and she was definitely mad at the moment.
"Amelia," I said as I walked into the kitchen to help with dinner. The kids were in the living room plying with the dog.
"Yeah," she said as I put my hand on her back.
"Are you mad at me?" I asked.
"No," she said.
"Really," I said.
"I can be mad at you if you want," she said.
"I put the baby gate up like Maeve suggested," I chuckled as I kissed her head.
"Thanks," she said and leaned up and kissed me. The dog ran in he kitchen and Lucas and Caroline were running after him.
"Okay I think it's time for the puppy to eat his dinner," I said and picked the dog up.
"Can I fill the bowl?" Lucas asked.
"Yes go get a scoop of dog food," I said and put him in his mobile crate so we could eat dinner.
"Can we go over names now?" Caroline asked.
"Sure," Amelia said as we all sat down.
"I want to start," Maeve said.
"Okay," I said.
"Lucky," Maeve said.
"No," Lucas said.
"Eh," I chuckled.
"No fair," Maeve said.
"Biscuit!" Logan said.
"You googled that I saw that name too," Maeve said.
"Did not," Logan laughed.
"We should name him buzz light year!" Lucas said.
"No," Maeve said.
"Max," Caroline said.
"That is so basic no," Logan said. I laughed and Amelia chuckled.
"Do you guys have any ideas?" Caroline asked Amelia and I.
"No," Amelia chuckled, "up to you."
"Yeah it's up to you guys," I said.
"Finn," Lucas said. Everyone looked at each other.
"I like it," Amelia started.
"I do too," Logan said, "and we can call him Finny too!"
"I love it," Maeve said.
"Me too," Caroline said.
"Owen?" Amelia said.
"Finn Hunt," I smiled as we all looked at the dog.
