AMELIAS POV
"Owen," I said and nudged him.
"Hm?" Owen said and rolled over.
"Get up," I complained.
"The alarm didn't go off," Owen said.
"I want to see the baby get up," I complained and nudged him again. He rolled over and grabbed my waist and I smiled.
"Good morning," he said in my ear as he kissed my cheek.
"Good morning," I smiled. His hand found my small baby bump and I smiled.
"I'm so excited to see our little boy or girl," he said.
"Me too," I said, "I wish I was farther along so we could know what we were having."
"Me too, but we'll know soon," he said and kissed me passionately. I smiled as I pulled him closer to me.
"Wanna shower?" He grinned as he placed a few kisses on my neck.
"Yes," I giggled.
-
Owen and I were walking into the hospital. I was so excited, but also really nervous. I just hoped that our boy or girl was healthy. That's all I want. We were also keeping it a secret for right now so we had to try to avoid people walking in.
"Hey," Arizona smiled as she walked up next to me.
"Hi," I smiled.
"You guys ready?" She asked as we walked down the hallway and we walked into the room on the end. She closed the blinds just because we told her we weren't telling people yet.
"Okay so this is your first ultrasound right?" She asked as she brought the machine over.
"Yup," I said.
"You said around 6ish weeks?" She asked.
"Yeah I think so," I said.
"Okay, well let's see your baby guys! Just a warning the gel is going to be a little cold alright?" Arizona explained.
"Okay," I smiled and reached for Owen's hand. He grabbed my hand and I smiled.
"Okay let's see your baby!" Arizona smiled as she started the ultrasound. We looked at the screen and there it was. Our baby.
"Oh my gosh," I said crying as I looked at Owen, "that's our baby."
"There they are," Owen smiled and kissed my cheek.
"Arizona our baby is healthy right?" I asked.
"Beautifully healthy guys. Everything is developing perfectly, and you're 7 weeks pregnant. Let's schedule an ultrasound for a few weeks alright?" She smiled, "and I will print you guys some pictures okay?"
"Okay," we beamed as we continued to look at the screen. Baby Hunt was healthy. I couldn't be happier. Arizona handed us a thick envelope with pictures and I smiled.
"Thank you, and thank you for not telling anyone, I just wanted to make sure everything was okay at first," I said.
"Of course, it's common with a lot of pregnancies. I'm here anytime you guys need anything," she said, "so let's schedule that next appointment."
"Is 4 weeks good? Or is that too long?" Owen asked.
"Nope 4 weeks is recommended," Arizona said, "so I'll book you guys for 4 weeks out and I'll send you a confirmation email."
"Thank you," I smiled and hugged her.
"You're welcome, and congratulations," she said.
OWENS POV
We finally got to see Baby Hunt today. I'm so excited, it's so real now. Seeing our baby wiggle around on the monitor was like nothing else. That was our kid. It was so exciting. Arizona gave us a bunch of ultrasound pictures and I was so excited, and our baby was perfectly healthy. In a months we'll have our baby boy or girl. Amelias pager went off and she frowned.
"Ugh I'll see you later," she said, "I love you bye." She kissed my cheek and I smiled as she ran off.
"I love you too," I said. I walked into the locker room and changed into scrubs quickly. I put the envelope of photos in my locker and checked my pager. As I checked it I got a page from April to OR 4. I ran up the stairs and into the OR. I scrubbed in and April was waiting for me.
"What do we got?" I asked as I walked in.
"Blunt force trauma to the leg," April said, "Bohkee I think we're going to need to page Doctor Callie Torres as well."
"You're on it," Bohkee said and grabbed a pager to call Callie. I got gowned and April handed me a scalpel.
"You ready?" She asked.
"Of course I'm ready," I nodded and she smiled. It felt good to be trusted in the OR.
AMELIAS POV
I was in the OR and I was so nervous. Tom was letting me do this by myself. He wasn't even here. He was doing something with some of the other fellows.
"You've got this," Arizona said, "you've done aneurysms a million times with Tom, it's the same thing."
"You're right," I said. I adored how supportive Arizona was of everyone. She was always so happy to help. I was extra nervous though because this was a kid. Their brain would be smaller, the bleed might be smaller.
"Scalpel," I said to the scrub nurse. She nodded and grabbed me the scalpel.
-
I did it. Oh my god it felt amazing. I was scrubbing out with Arizona.
"Good job," she said, "you're a natural."
"Thanks," I said.
"Tom says you're very smart," she said, "he wasn't wrong."
"Uh yeah," I nodded, "he's a really good teacher too."
"I think he's annoying, and arrogant, but I've heard he's good too," she said, "you'll be a great attending Amelia." I smiled as she walked out. I finished scrubbing out and I saw Jo.
"Did you just do a solo surgery? Without your specialty attending?" She said shocked.
"I did," I smiled.
"You are so lucky," she said, "Tom let's you do everything."
"It's because I can tolerate him," I laughed. I was finally where I wanted to be in my career. I loved it. In a year I'll be an attending, and in a few months I'd be holding my baby boy or girl. I couldn't wait.
