OWENS POV
The kids went home with Meredith, Maggie, and Derek. Amelia was fine but Seattle Press wanted to keep her here for observation. They said I could stay with her overnight.
"How are you doing?" I asked as I stroked her cheek and sat down next to her.
"I'm okay," she said.
"I'm worried about Logan," I said.
"What happened?" She asked worried.
"He was really scared you were going to die because of his video games," I said. She frowned as she leaned into me.
"I wish the world was free of violence," she sighed, "how can I protect my babies from this?"
"I know," I sighed, "But I am so glad you're okay, and I'm sorry in the OR I looked away for a second because that's all it took for him to get to you."
"Owen this isn't your fault. Just like it's not Derek's fault. It's Gary's fault. That's the only person who can feel guilty about it," she said, "what happened to him?"
"He shot himself," I said.
"He did?" She said. I nodded.
"Oh," she said.
"Yeah," I said.
"Wish he went to jail," she said.
"Me too," I said.
"How serious are you worried about Logan?" She asked, "should we buy him other games?"
"I don't know," I shrugged, "I mean he'll see the violence in the world eventually no matter what games he plays."
"I know," she said sadly.
"I'm so glad you're okay," I said and kissed her cheek.
"Me too," she said, "do you think I'm going to need physical therapy?"
"Probably not," I said, "I don't know."
"Come help me up," she said.
"Amelia it's not a good idea to walk," I said.
"I have to get to the bathroom somehow," she said. I chuckled as I got up and grabbed both of her hands and helped her up.
"Just keep your weight off it okay?" I said as she stood up straight. She made a face and I knew she was in pain.
"Let me carry you," I said.
"Owen," she complained as she pushed her IV, "let me hop to the bathroom." I chuckled as I held her up and she managed to get to the bathroom.
"Turn around," she said.
"I've seen you pee before," I chuckled as I faced the wall.
"Not when I'm in a hospital gown and wearing a pair of hospital underwear," she chuckled. I laughed and she washed her hands. I helped her get back into bed and she looked up at me.
"Hey Owen?" She said.
"Yeah," I said.
"I'm glad Harvard had a housing crisis," she laughed and I smiled.
"Me too," I said as I laid back down next to her.
"We could have never met," she said and looked at me.
"I know," I said.
"You were a meanie though," she said and nudged me.
"Was not," I said.
"You were a meanie when we broke up," she laughed.
"I was having a moment," I said.
"Yeah tell me about it," she joked, "and now you're my husband."
"And you're my wife," I smiled and kissed her forehead.
"I wouldn't want it any other way Owen," she said softly, "I love you so much."
"I love you too, and I wouldn't want our lives any different," I said.
"How were Caroline, Maeve, and Lucas?" She asked.
"Shook up but they were okay, definitely feeling much better that they got to see you awake," I said.
"I'm sad they had to go home," she said, "I miss them."
"Me too, but we can see them tomorrow I promise," I said.
"Okay," she said, "come fall asleep with me." I adjusted to make sure she was comfortable. I put my arm over her waist and she smiled.
"I love you," she said.
"I love you too," I said and kissed her, "I am so grateful to god that you are okay."
"Me too," she said. She nuzzled into me and I kissed her head.
AMELIAS POV
I opened my eyes and Owen wasn't next to me.
"Owen?" I asked as I looked around the dark room. I tried getting up but my leg was still in so much pain. I grabbed the end table to stop myself from falling over and the door opened.
"You okay?" Owen asked as he ran over to me and helped me up, "what are you doing up?"
"I didn't know where you were," I said.
"I was just getting some coffee," he said, "I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you."
"No it's fine," I said and he helped me sit down.
"How is your leg feeling?" He asked.
"Just sore," I said, "Can I see the kids now I want to go home."
"I have your discharge papers but you still need to rest when we get home," Owen said.
"Yeah yeah whatever can I go now?" I chuckled as I grabbed a pen. I signed the papers and Owen grabbed our stuff. He helped me up and I hugged him.
"I love you," I said.
"I love you too," he said and rubbed my back. He helped me walk to the elevator and eventually out to our car. We drove home and I was so excited to see the kids. I needed them. Owen unlocked the front door and the kids were in the living room with Finn.
"Mommy!" Lucas smiled and ran over to me.
"Just be careful of mom's leg okay?" I said.
"Don't let Finn jump up on her okay?" Owen told the kids as he went to go pet him. I hugged the kids tightly and I never wanted to let go. I loved them so much and I'm so glad I was okay.
